Prayers needed...

I got a call from my mother tonight letting us know that my sister's husband, John, was in a car crash, and didn't make it. Apparently, he was driving too fast on the interstate, in the rain, lost control, and slammed into a guard rail. She said he died instantly.

I can't imagine what my sister and her kids are going through right now. I hope you guys can say a little prayer for them. I'd greatly appreciate it.

That is a really tough situation and I feel for your whole family. I recently went through something similar and prayer is the only way :-)

Thanks, guy. You are all much appreciated. We're getting ready to drive down to NC either tomorrow or Tuesday. I dread it, though. I mean, as much as I want to see my family, I never thought it would be like this. I've only been down there maybe 3 times since I moved up here 5 years ago. We were planning a trip for around August.

I've known John since I was little. I was probably around 9 or 10 when I first met him. He was a brother to me. He was a great guy. My father detested him, though. He's Mexican, and my sister's white. My dad didn't care too much for that, and pretty much disowned her. Well, technically, he's her stepdad, but still. He ****ed up with them, and now he doesn't have the chance to make it up. But that isn't worth getting into. It'll just piss me off.

Him and Pam have been married for about 15 years. They had 2 kids together, Megan, and Michael. They're 12, and 10...I think. I could be off about a year. John had an awesome home theater setup lol. I loved going over to their house, and he'd pop in Indepenance Day or something, and I'd just be enthralled by the bass. He had a Technic system, I believe. Not the greatest brand by today's standards, but, for 12 year old, it sounded like the greatest thing in the world.

John and Pam would always take me and my sister out. To the mall, movies, minigolfing, whatever. Something our dad never did for us. When my parents split, they let us live with them for a while. That was probably the greatest 3 or 4 months of our lives. We got away from dad, and John and I really got a chance to bond.

Well, I'm sorry for the long post, guys. It's just...hard. My mom said Pam hasn't told his parents yet, at least as of last night. She didn't know how'd she tell them. Man. I should try to stop thinking about it.

Eh, it's been a rough couple of days. I've been rushing to get the car fixed up. Had to get an oil change, a headlight bulb replaced, the back tires replaced, and put in a new headlight switch. Sometimes when I turn the effer on, the tail and dash lights wouldn't work. Most of the time, they worked fine, but I wasn't going to drive like this to NC. So, yesterday morning, went to Walmart for an oil change. I bought a bulb for them to put in. I shopped around while waiting, getting some new clothes, a few new things for the car. Waited for 2 hours. I got there a little after 7, and left at 9. I bought the bulb for the car and then gave it to the mechanic to put in, but noticed they charged me for it again when I got to my car. Eh, no biggie. I went back in, and they gave me my money back.

I did a few more things before getting home. I called my wife's cousin Ben about my headlight switch. I know little when it comes to electrical stuff on cars. He was cool, and told me to bring the car over and he'd have a look. Well, I get to the car, and the effer won't start. Turned out I left the lights on. Called him back, and he came out and gave me a jump. He looked at the switch and the dash, and said it was just the matter of getting the dash off and replacing the switch(which I've already bought). He didn't have the tools on him, and he was hurrying for something, so I didn't bother him anymore with it. It was almost 5 at this point, so I decided to take care of it in the morning.

Since that would have to wait, I went ahead and drove to Fix O Flat to get some used tires for my rear. Everything went smooth, and they gave me a good deal. And didn't charge for installation, to boot. I drive off, and about 3/4th's of the way home, the back left tire started to womble. It wasn't bad, so I decided to get the car home. I got out, and sure enough it was flat. ****. By the time I got home, the place was closed, so it would have to wait till morning.

Morning comes. My wife's mother gives us her car for the day('03 Camero) and I drop her off at work. I get back to my place, and go to get the tire off. When I tried to get off the lugnut lock with the key, it seemed to be warped, and I couldn't get it off for nothing. I called Fix O Flat, and I was just pissed. Not so much about the tire, but about my lock, which, if I can't get that off, I'm not getting my tire off. So, he said if I can get some air in the tire and get the car up there, he'll take care of it. Lucky for me, though, the only convienient store near our place, they're air machine was out of service. I went in to get something to drink, and a couple of the maintenance guys for our apartment complex were in their. I told them of my situation. He offered to get his truck, and air pump, and fill up my tire for me. He's a good guy, always helpful. It took a while, though, to fill up the tire. He had one of those small electrical pumps. I could hear the air coming out. Anyways, I was off. I stopped at a gas station about half way there, and filled the tire up again. It was already getting flat. I got to Fix O Flat about 2 minutes later, and not a second sooner. It was flat again. I went in, explained to guy what had happened, and he was more than nice enough to help. I apologized for getting pissy on the phone, and he said it was no big deal. He knew my b-i-l just passed. His manager, on the other hand, was an ass. He demanded to know if I hit anything, and I told him I wasn't sure. He said he'd go ahead and replace it, which is against their policy, and that he's doing ME a favor. The other guy asks about the lugnut key, and he goes to get it off, and he had a little trouble getting it off. He claimed there was nothing wrong with it, and that I have to turn the iron a certain way to get it to lock into place. Whatever. I've had to change other tires on the car, and I never had any trouble getting the thing off. But since his manager was an ass about things, I held my lip, and told him not to worry about putting it back on. I wasn't hateful, although I kind of wish I had been. Then again, I'm not that type of person. He got another tire, checked it thoroughly with soap and water, put it on for me, and I was on my way. I still need to buy another lugnut for that tire, and replace the locknuts on the other ones, as well. I hate having to deal with them. Who's going to steal tires on a 95 Mercury Sable anyway? Hmmm, on second thought, maybe I'll leave 'em on...

Whew. That was over. I then drove to a nearby mechanic, so he could look at my switch for me. Now this guy is cool. An older fellow. He looked at my switch for me, and told me exactly how to get the dash off, and put in the new switch. He told me if I had any problems, to just let him know, and bring the car to him. I got home, got the dash out, replaced the switch, and it doesn't work. Headlights didn't even work. Nothing. I cut the hell out of my finger trying to get the dash off, too. I called the guy, and I took it in, and he said he'll do everything he can to have the car ready by morning so we could leave. I thanked him, and was on my way.

What a ****ing day. Sorry about the long rant. It just seemed that everything that could go wrong did, and I'm just trying my best to get through it. I know the world doesn't revolve around me, and I almost hate people who think that, but, I mean DAMN! It was just one thing after the other. I'm just so thankful that my wife's family will do anything they can to help people out, and I thank God for em(uh oh, I hope I don't get sued for mentioning God-jk). The wife and I went and bought a few more things for the trip, and went to get pizza, which was the WORST dining experience I've ever had, but let's not get into that. I've bitched enough for one day lol. Again, sorry for the long post. You guys are the greatest. Thank you.
