    Default SDA2a

I am putting a system to gether around the SDA2a speakers.
I need input on what would be the best tube amp to use to run them and some wattage requirements. Are the speakers 6 or 8 OHM?

I have a Luxman Hybrid D105U Cd Player that I will connect directly to the amp. The CD Player has a moterized volume control.

My other choice is to stay Solid state. What would be a good alternate in that catagory?

    Thanks, :D

It all depends on your musical tastes and preferences. The 2A's will provide satisfying performance with many types of high quality amplification.

Generally, SDA's perform best with high current, high damping factor amps. Minumum amplifier power of 200 watts/channel is a good rule of thumb.

There are several members here who use tube power amps with their SDA's. There are others who use a tube preamp with a solid state power amp. I prefer solid state preamp and power amp.

Thanks for the input. I will endevoer to go solid state with the amp. I have a good lead on a Luxman M-117 250wpc. I will try it or a carver high current amp.

The hybrid tube player gives a hint of the tube out put I was looking for but realized that the polks are hungry for the power for the bottom end response

Always nice to see another Oklahoman on the forum. I'm not currently a resident, but will be again some day.

Good to see you are going to give those SDA's some good power.

I've seen a couple sets of SDA's on ebay sell from Oklahoma within the last few months.

    Enjoy them.

    Thanks for the reply.
My brother lives in Littlerock. If you are looking for polks they can be picked up pretty cheap in OK. Dont mind meeting in Littlerock
if you need transport for speakers in the future.

    Thanks for the offer.

My parents live in NW Oklahoma and I've got a brother that lives in OKC.

If you look around on the forum, there are a few more from OK as well. Dennis Gardner and gwh are both fellow okie polkies.

Dennis has some RTi's and a set of SDA's and gwh has LSi's.

My brother has my old RT5's, but isn't a member on the forum here.
