Talking Tutorial On How To Resize Pics!

This is the universal method to resizing pics if you have Windows, Probally even MACS!

    SO..

    STEP 1) Open MS Paint
    STEP 2) OPEN YOUR PICTURE
    STEP 3) Go To IMAGE
    STEP 4) DROP DOWN STRETCH/SKEW
STEP 5) PIC A PERCENTAGE OF HOW MUCH SMALLER YOU WANT YOUR PICTURE
STEP 6) MAKE IT ATLEAST AS SMALL AS THE 'WINDOW' IN YOUR PAINT PROGRAM. Chances are... thats how big it needs to be!

There are faster/easier ways to do this if you have Paint Shop Pro and the likes... but this is the universal method - no more big pics, ya hear?

good Sid, thanks for doing that.

for viewing. pics should be no larger than 800 X 600 with a DPI(dots per inch) no larger than 75

any more DPI than that and the file becomes to large. and is a waste basically.

    the photo below is 800 X 600

I downloaded the XP power tool for resizing and its amazingly cool, just right click, resize pic and pic the resolution. a copy of the file is then made with the new res :)

If you can't afford real photo software, Picassa is probably the best free software available.
    Picasa Free Download

I use this at work since we don't have an extra Photoshop license. At home, of course I use Photoshop.

With Picasa you set up folder locations. The program defaults to a browser. Dbl click photo. There is an icon on the lower left that says Export. Click it.
In the popup, you select new file name, location, and there is a slider that lets you resize. It automatically keeps the aspect ratio. IMHO, this is much easier than using Paint.

Try it out, it can't hurt.

To quote Beavis - "Hey man, pick your own Assa."

All joking aside, I second that recommendation. Picassa is a decent program.

Then how do you resize them from there, or can you not?

I was under the impression you could resize them while viewing them in the post.

I installed an extension that allowed you to resize on the fly... it's called ImageZoomer. I don't believe it's possible without the extension tho.

Yeah, with FireFox you can resize if you have the extension for it. If you haven't got any extensions before, you are missing out on half the FireFox experience. I have things like a dictionary search, a spoof site detector, a way to open your current page in Internet Explorer, a bandwith tester, download management tools, etc.

Hmm didn't know paint did that.... saves me a bit of time to not have to open photoshop as long as I don't need to scale it to an exact pixel size. Thanks :D
