    Default Rotel amp. powering LSi9's

Looking at a good used Rotel RB-980 BX...rated at 120x2 @8 ohms...curious if it will drive a pair of LSi9's sufficiently...

This 2-channel set-up would be in a small listening room approx. 12'x14' with no openings other than the entry door which can be closed.

Rotel does'nt seem to rate their amps. with 4 ohm loads...I'm sure that this little amp. would suffice, but looking for your expert opinions...

It's funny you ask. I bought a Myryad amp to run my LSi 9/C combo but it is a dead amp. So for now, I'm using my Rotel RB-980BX to drive just the 9's. Very impressive little amp. Runs about 200-220w/ch. at 4 ohms from what I've found and it runs pretty damn cool! In stereo applications, I'm pretty pleased with it. Sounds real clean and detailed. I just am starting to wonder if I need a little more power... that'd be the only thing.

    I have 3 of them..!

They are running my LSi`s just fine...

I`m using them for HT duty right now.

I have one on the 9`s for front
one on the 7`s for rear surround
and one (Y-splitter) on the center channel

I really like the Rotels...clean , solid little amps

They run like 220 into 4 ohms..

If it`s a good deal , I say go for it..

My RB-980BX is powering a set of Monitor 11's rated at 4.5 ohms. Like Toxis said - the amp wasn't even warm & I'd been listening pretty loud. :D

Have had my 980 since 1994. Powered my 9's for three years. It is a great match for the LSi series.

Thanks guys,That's what I wanted to hear. I'm trying to put together a "decent" 2-channel rig with a limited budget.

I could get a higher output amp. but the RB-980 is a very sweet sounding piece of gear.

Coupled with a RC-980 pre-amp,I think the LSi's would shine...

    Thanks again.

Yes they will. I have had this combo since 1994.
