Default info on cambridge audio D500SE

Hello people... as some of you know I've been looking for a decent source for a while now. I think I might have found one but I'm not certain and need your advice. I found a Cambridge Audio D500SE for $275 (cdn) and it looks pretty mint. It's silver (damnit) but I guess I can live with one piece of silver gear on my rack hehe. It would have to be shipped and I have emailed the seller asking how old it is and if there are any scratches or chips. I know this cdp would be an awesome upgrade but I'm not sure if it's a good deal. I've seen a couple on audiogon and ebay for 250-300 usd. I might be able to haggle them down to 250 cdn :p. What do ya think?

That price isn't too bad, I have seen them NIB on ebay for less--and in black...

Well I got a reply from the seller and they told me that it's not exactly mint. It has marks on the top from stacking other things on it but other than that it's good. The seller is the second owner so they don't know how old it is.... is it a problem that it has gone through two pairs of hands? Do cdp's just sort of break down after so many hours of usage and should I be worried about that?

btw keep in mind that the $275 is canadian :p

I figured that you would be one of the ones to reply. Did you have any issues when you owned one?

The seller said shipping would be about $22. Should I hold off and wait for a better deal?

    Thanks,

    Michal

I bought Steve's Cambridge D500SE. Still going strong. It is a very nice CDP. As Steve mentioned you can find them new for a very reasonable price.

Alright then, thanks for the advice... I will wait and search for something else. Maybe cheaper and used or new. Plus this way I'll be able to get black instead of crappy silver :D (sorry silver lovers but I hate how new audio stuff has gone the way of plastic silver... just looks too cheesy for me)
