Velvet Revolver

Just got back from seeing Velvet Revolver. What a great show. Hoobastank opened up and got the crowd going for VR. Pretty heavy stuff. One cool thing is that they brought out Rick Nielsen and Bun E. Carlos from Cheap Trick to play Surrender. Since Cheap Trick are home-town boys they got a great response. If heavy is your thing check out VR. Since I like all kinds of different styles I didn't mind VR. Scott Weiland is cross between Iggy Pop and David Bowie. Beware it's pretty heavy sh*t. And theyperform both Guns & Roses and Stone Temple Pilot stuff.

Man my ears are ringing....I forgot my earplugs.

I didn't even know Weiland was in a band these days. Might have to do a lil looking into that. I swear, these days Rock & Roll is becoming a soap opera. Who's leaving who for who? Who's starting new projects just as a side project while still being in the original band when they have time? Dear god, I'm just waiting for a brain tumor and a coma victom.

Yeah I hear ya! VR is basically GnR without Axel. Although Matt Sorum, the drummer, was with GnR but wasn't the original drummer. Still was a very good concert! HEAVY metal!!!!!!

Scott Weiland is one of the best RnR frontmen of this current generation....period.

Chris Cornell (Soundgarden/ Audioslave) is another excellent frontman.

F Axl Rose...if he wasn't such a recluse, he might have climbed to the top again.

Scott was amazing. I always liked Stone Temple Pilots. Probably because they were so obviously influenced by the greatest RnR band ever.. Led Zep.

At one point Scott jumped off stage down into the area between the stage and the fron row and began walking out into the crowd, He ended up in seats which flanked the stage about in the 2nd tier. Talking about the band and the audience being one and having mutual respect for each other. That's why he felt safe being out in the middle of the crowd. I was actually about 3 feet from him. He's a spindley stick figure of a man. Skin and bones.....Rumor has it form a reliable local source that the band has fallen of the wagon and are having a good time.......if you know what I mean. At least I got to see him before he goes back into rehab.....Let's just hope he stays with us for awhile!

I was at that concert last night too. I'm not a big Velvet Revolver fan, but they put on a good show. I was with a couple of friends/co-workers who are really into them. I traded my friend Scott one of my extra Cubs bleacher tickets to the 5/10 game for a ticket to this concert. It was a long ass drive from Chicago, though! I really enjoyed hearing them play the old STP tunes. Cheap Trick coming onto the stage was pretty damn cool, too!

What did you think of the attendence? Pretty sparse if you ask me. Where in Chi-town did you have to drive from? It was nice for once to actually stay in town for a concert and not have to drive to Chicago or Milwaukee. I knew Rick was going to come out, but having Bun E. there too really suprised me. When Cheap Trick did their 25th anniversary show here in Rockford, Slash was one of the guests, I hear they are good buds. On a side note I highly rec. the C.T. Silver DVD.

Glad to hear from someone so close to my neck of the woods.

I live in Lincoln Park between Fullerton and Diversey off of Clark St. It took us about an hour give or take to get there on I-90.

Attendance was pretty sparse, It seemed that almost half of the upper level was empty. Overall I had a good time, and they put on a rockin' show. I'll have to look into the DVD you mentioned...
