    Default Speaker Powering Question

Alright, I'm reconfiguring my system, and I'm replacing the 2 channel amp I use to power my DB-12 subs with a similar quality mono amplifier, anyways, Instead of selling the 2 channel amp, I'm thinking of using it to power my MM6s. The only problem is the amp puts out 200 watts rms (underrated) at 4 ohms, and I'm not sure if that will be too much for the speakers. The MM6s are rated for 150 watts, but some people tell me I can go over that as long as I don't hear any distortion. I'm just worried about overheating the speakers. Any suggestions or pieces of advice? I really don't want to ruin these components.. But this amp is too good to just put away or sell.

200 watts to each crossover will be just fine, as long as you are careful with the gains. I talked to polk customer service about bi-amping. He told me that the MM6 woofer can take 150W itself, and the tweets can take 75W.
If you're giving the crossover 150 watts, then the tweet will be getting 75. If you have the tweet at -6 dB, that is 1/4 the power, so you'll be just fine w/ 200 Watts. (it takes a doubling of power to get a 3dB increase, so -6dB takes 1/4 the power)

I agree with Austin. Be careful and set your gains properly and use common sense with the volume and you should be ok.

Im running about 150 to my MM6s and its just right.
