newbie trying to learn electronics

Hi guys, my name's Mike and I always been a gear head. I love working on cars to make them faster. I installed my own stereo system in my car, but I am not very knowledgeable about mobile electronics. Can anyone reccommend some good books or even a website with basic information. I'm starting from the beginning. I want to learn everything, from head units to amps to mp3 players and wireless accessories.

There is a book called The Car Audio Cookbook that is supposed to be very good. I'd start there.

car stereo cookbook is pretty good. i mean for the simple stuff... it's kind of dated but it still works...

this site is good, sometimes (mostly me and a couple other geeks that get into the nitty-gritty)... a search for 'capacitor' on google can often find you a general electronics site... howstuffworks.com is tasty, sometimes... crutchfieldadvisor.com has some good articles, too...

The Carsound.com forum is a wealth of knowledge. Not only are there shadetree insallers such as ourselves but also competition champions, magazine editors, engineers and manufacturer tech guys like the tech guy from JL Audio. Those are some invaluable sources.

Also our humble Club Polk can be a valuable place to learn. If you have a question and one of us regular types cant answer it Josh or Thom (forum moderators) usually chime in and set things straight.

Thanks guys. I'm looking at the12volt right now. I'll pick up car stereo cookbook somewhere, not amazon, my first experience with them was a very bad one.
