I have come across a handful of decent installs with the new T1 and T2 subsm and they were very strong,

the T2's were getting gobs of power

The Power T2 is absolutely gorgeous. Car Audio magazine did a comparo in the July '05 issue (I wouldn't say any one sub won; they all virtually got the same score). This thing looks like it was built to last for a hundred years.

Yeah, that was a pretty close race. The JL and ID barely won in SQ and the RF and DD won barely in impact.

Goes to show, when youre in this league pretty much everything you get is going to be high quality.

actually - i've been told by an inside source that Digital Deisgns beat the **** out of both the Image Dynamics IDmax and the RF sub.

it's "scores" were more than 30% above and beyond the competition in power/output testing. sonic reproduction/sq testing... they won as well... not by a landslide, but a healthy "hey i'm the winner" degree.

prior to release of the study, ID put up no contest, they figured "what is, is", but RF blew a holy **** fit and threatened sanction against the testing body due to their claim that the testing was "unfair"

As a result, the study results were "fudged" prior to release.

Wanna know more? Call up RF, request someone in engineering - if they actually transfer you, mention what i said above, and watch how fast the phone hangs up.

Then get ahold of DD and start asking questions.

The true result sheet is out there, you just have to hunt for it - it'll result in you hunting OFF OF the internet, which i know may seem like "work" to many people, but its worth taking a look at. you'll have to beg certain people, but again, its worth it.

I can understand that when DD is built for all out SPL, the IDMAX and RF are marketed and designed for SQL, as far as I understand

I wouldnt exactly categorize RF subs in the SQ league. ID definitely belongs there but RF is more of a ghetto blaster.

DD has been re-orienting its gear ... newer models are as much designed for SQ as SPL.

note - once you go above about 750 watts, SQ isn't SQ... you've got SQ woofers, SPL woofers, and then "SQL" woofers - hybrid SPL / SQ jobs, these include the IDmax, REXXX, JLW7 and now DD's new stuff.

the only real true SQ woofer of 1000w rms or higher that i know of is the Soundstream Davinci.

hmm... looks like soundstream got out of the Super-Woofer business.

They don't even have the Tarantula woofer anymore.

Saw an ad for the Davinci 12 - msrp = 849, clearance price = 199 YIKES... Those were sick sounding subs man... sick...

    here's some images though.

I remember a guy on SoundDomain talking about the motor structure of the big SoundStream subs was not the best, and that PowerAcoustic (new parent) did not want to carry such an expensive driver, probably the reason they are so cheap

i'm not sure if its a 7 channel or not - there were a couple "davinci" series amps... that was just a representation picture... they all "look" the same, but obviously the guts aren't the same.

power acrap-stick bought soundstream out ? NOOOO!!! Say it aint SO!!!! Goddammit!

SoundStream has been going downhill for a while from what Im told. Was only a matter of time I guess.

PA is a budget brand but I guess they sell enough that theyre getting pretty big. Dont they own somebody else too?
