    Default Allison Model 2's

I'm making a trip from Syracuse down to PA this weekend to pick up some gear, I have a chance to grab some Allison 2's. From everything on the net these seem to be well thought of. I'm looking for your thoughts on these speakers, fair price, how they sound and so on. Thanks

During the 70's they were one of the speaker companies considered at the top of their game. I did listen to them a few times, I know I was impressed but that was a long time ago. I am not sure why I didn't go with them but probably price. I ended up going with a very impressive company up and coming 3 D Acoustics.

Allison model 2's I believe were the precursor of the cd8.

Pretty rare I would say and from what I remember about Allison pretty good sounding stuff.
I think they were higher ohm rated most of the time like 16ohm speakers. Great for tubes.

They're excellent; full stop. If you like the vintage Polk sound, you'll like 'em. The sticky coating on the woofers is difficult to clean (i.e., to remove dust from). As you probably know, plenty of info on these from http://www.classicspeakerpages.net/library/allison/
    specifically, http://www.classicspeakerpages.net/l...es_brochure_2/

I very much like my Allison Ones (sourced from my favorite emporium; indubitably one of my best 'scroes' therefrom).
    all the best,

If they are clean and in good shape, do not hesitate. Wonderful speakers and still my preferred brand in my basement rig. Have had a pair of 4's since early '80's and will never sell them. Just recently picked up a pair of CD7 that were dropped off at the local "dump." They also sound great. The Allison tweeters are very nice (and hard to replace) and all their speakers image very well. Obviously I fully recommend them. Allison Ones are highly sought after.

    Cayuga -

Is this the same seller that had those two turntables I was looking at? See if he'd throw one in for free :)

I'm still dreaming of those two! Best of luck. Let me know what you think of the tables if you see them.

Thanks for the info, I'll report this weekend on the Allison's. The speakers are just a small part of the buy I'm making, I'll need a truck for this one.
