    Default Small DIY Amp

I was wanting a separate amp to put next to my bed that would be quiet, power some old sony surrounds, and run off of the iPod this systeem would be used to play my "sleep" music and wouldn't wake up the family. Building a small amp powered off of a 9 volt battery, two Rat Shack 386 amplifier ICs, 2 10uf caps and a small pot. Prototyped a one channel model and works like a dream. Will upgrade to Burr-Brown amps after I build it (I'm very impacient). Just wondering if anyone else has built anything like this and if so, could give any advice or help. Should run less than 10$ to build, nice fun rainy day project.

Just curious... why not run it off of A/C? too much heat generated for a small space?

    I hate 9 volts...
    Ludicrous gibs!

I want it to also be easily portable-power some small speakers for bus rides and such. One upgrade I will do is using a Wall wart to power it, RS doesn't sell any female PCB connectors though.

Well, the amp is currently blown-too much heat-will work on that and get this thing working for good.
