    Default Subwoofer advice

Are there any decent subs, other than SVS and HSU? I would just get one of those (probably SVS), but I am trying to find one no deeper than 18", and the SVS is 21.5 deep.

I did try a Dayton Audio Titanic 10", which is a 14" cube, but I was totally unimpressed with it's performance, and I am returning it tomorrow. It does not live up to there calaims of 105db, it was bottoming out well before 100. $40 to ship it back, an expensive demo...

I saw a Tannoy at Fry's a while back, I'll see if I can get a model # for you. The build quality was superb and it was quite small.http://www.tannoy.com/Default.asp?Id=4462
There it is and I was very impressed with the driver. If you need a small sw that still packs a wallop this might be the one and check the next size up it might be the right size.

Hell now that I go back and read a little more the 12'' one should fit.

I had no clue at their cost. Just thought the size was in the ballpark. Although I've heard of Tannoy for ever, I've really not been around any personally till very recently, and that's just been their Fusion series and that small 8" sub, which as I said was quite impressive for the size. And with it being in a sealed enclosure should be very good at reproducing music.

Check out Velodyne. I think they make excellent subs- especially for the $ and ESPECIALLY for music playback- which imo takes precedence over movies. Any sub you can buy can play one bass note- it takes a good one to keep up musically with your other speakers.

    Martin Logan Dynamo.
Best sub at that price range (can be had for between $580-$600 depending on sale price). It is small, compact and has excellent extension-25Hz +/- 3db.
Can't think of any other sub that would beat it in that price range and of that size.
    Comes in silver or black.
Do yourself a favor and audition it before you decide on a final purchase. It will kick the **** out of anything Velodyne offers at that level.

    4 feet wide? No thanks.

I think I will just go with the SVS 10", and turn it sideways.

Has anyone heard the Klipsch KSW-12? Or RW-10? They are both small, and can be had for $400 delivered.

I picked up an Energy s12.3 two weeks ago, I love it, so I am no longer searching. The specs claim a low extension of 19hz, but the in room measurements I am geting are +-3db all the way to 15hz.
