The really sad part is that they look to be in fine shape. I could "almost" understand, if they were all f&^%ed up.

I posted over at AK a couple months ago about my concern over "parting out" perfectly good matched speakers stating that I felt it was strictly for profit and greed and this was one members response:

"Well, I've done it and will probably do it again.

And I don't feel all that bad about it.

True, one set may be "destroyed" because it's parts are scattered to the winds, but how many sets are restored or kept out of the dump because a vital component that was lacking now is available? If we lose one set, but restore two, isn't that better??

Often, the cab is the issue; folks don't want to pay the freight for a big heavy cab if it isnt near cherry. But often on rarer, more vinatge speakers, there are collectors who will buy a worn cab as an upgrade and do the refinish on it. what they do with their old ones is up to them.

As far as greed goes, I don't know. Some of us sell stuff we find to buy more, some as a hobby, some as a part time income. Me, I'm the latter; I do it for the "fun" money for my family. If I know I can double up on something by parting it out. I'll usually do it, especially if I know I can sell all the parts, right down to to the cabs, grilles, logos and crossovers. Maybe if we were knocking down 6 figures here, it be different, but we aren't so I do what I can for may family. If that be greedy, so be it. But folks are still using and enjoying what I sell, so I'm fine with it.

As you can see, it is sacrifice when viewed through this guys eyes.

It does make sense if the parts aren't available. I guess that Polk's inventory of parts for SDAs is drying up, so maybe the secondary market is all we have left.

I guess that I don't have a problem with the earlier, mid-line, more abundant models being salvaged, but when the SRS Line is being treated this way............

I will fight it by buying up what I can, a pair at a time, and reselling to those that appreciate how uniique the line is.

    I've said my part.

the first time he tried selling them.. no one big on his speakers. I emailed him trying to work a deal out.. but he was hesistant. and had pretty much already decided to part them out.

so i gave up. looks like he did part them out. I guess there are no Club members in CO ?

Yep. Motivated by greed at our expense.

Basically the prick didn't get high enough bids back in April and decided to part them out. Since I read about this I have avoided all of his auctions.

Here is Danger boy's post about it a few months ago.

$35-$45 per driver. If the dweeb had just relisted once a month, he'd have got the same price as for parting them out, maybe more.

Plus, he's putting himself in the same position he was in before when listing them whole. Local pick-up only. If he didn't get any bids when they were whole, what makes him think the cabinets would sell without the driver's??
