    Default Analog or Digital connection

I was wondering where i could go to get all the specifications on the DAC's in my cd player and in my receiver. I want to know becasue i need to know wich one is better.

i.e. use a digital cable from cd player to receiver so i am using my receivers DAC or use analog cables from cd player to receiver so i am using my cd players DAC.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried using Google? Do a search for the DAC's that are in your gear.

GEEZ.... i realized since both of those products were sony i would call them and they would be able to tell me.... Well as i am typing this i am on the phone with them and this guy does not know anything.

At first he thought i was asking how to hook the cd player digitally.

Then he told me i had the option to hook either analog or digital (well duh) and that a digital connection is always better....

he does not even understand my question i don't think he knows what a dac is or what exaclty your doing when you choose to hook up digitally or by analog

Its a bit unfair to assume that Sony CS will know what parts are in each of their products. Since Sony has so many products, I'm sure they focus more on FAQs than more technical questions.

Not everyone can be nearly as good as Polk CS :)

I would buy or use if you have em high quality interconnects and digital cable.
Sit and listen to your favorite music and see what sounds better.

Both may have the same exact DAC's. it doesn't matter which ones are better but the ones that sound better are the better ones for you.

I have tried that, i spent almost the entire day yesterday going back and fourth with both connections. They are definalty not the same dac but they have to be almost identical. I can tell wich one is wich when i do a blind test with the two of them but to my ears neither one is any better than the other, they just sound different. So since i really dont prefer one over the other i really just wanted the specs on the two so i could see wich one was better on paper and just use that one....
