    Default Other Audio/HT Forums

What are some of the audio related forums you guys visit other than HT Forum and AVS? I see the spot is now pay only and although I occasionally enjoyed reading there I do not find it to be worth paying a membership fee to read a few posts a month. I am actually finding myself becoming less interested in HT and more into 2 channel.

HT Spot sucks. Nothing but a bunch of posers. Especially Paul.

    I frequent Sound & Vision...

Am an Admin at the DT Forum (small forum, but interesting none the less)

    Definitive Technology Forum

Is an attempt to bring DT fans together like we have here. So far isnt quite a success by any means ;) - but maybe it will grow, slowly in time? :o

Maybe once they start making speakers that sound good, they can start building a family of end users around them.

These arent home audio but I hang out on the Carsound.com forum and SoundDomain.com forum. The SD is ok (Ive been on there a year and posted like 20 times) but the Carsound is the best. There are tons of experts, engineers, manufacturer tech guys and reps, magazine editors and car audio competitors. Ive learned a ton off that site.

When Polk starts making REAL centers and surrounds again, you can comment on powered centers and surrounds and large, full range centers and surrounds.

    Until then ;)

Lets just say you wont be commenting for a reallllllly long time.

    I dont like powered towers...hmm

    They sound good to me.

Ive spent enough time in Tweeters showrooms to be an honorary employee by now and the Polk line sounds as good and usually better than anything in there price point and can easily hang with those well outside of their price.

The only time I ever visit the other audio forums is when someone here posts a link to one that has something to do with the thread topic.

I like AudioKarma.org the peeps there are pretty cool too. made a few online friends there. i did that whole HT and Sound and Vision forum thing for a while. didn't care for them much. AK is pretty fun. plus they talk (alot) about vintage gear. which is what i'm currently into.

Who said they sound bad? lol...

He made a stupid remark about powered centers and surrounds, when the best center Polk has EVER made except the SRT center is the CS1000P. Polks day of big speakers : towers, centers, surrounds and subs is gone and won't be returning anytime soon. Don't like the way DT goes about making their TOTL, don't look at it, dont listen to them and don't buy them. Simple as that. I don't particularly like powered speakers myself, but I do like the idea behind full range center and surrounds, because 80hz crossover points are horrid. Full range is the difference between a shot gun shooting behind you and a mini hand gun.

Why do you think the FX1000 and CS1000P are so widely sought after???

Anyways - back on subject. If anyone wants to tell me how bad DT sucks - you have a choice between Yahoo, MSN Messenger, AIM and PM - have a field day.

I love my CS1000p and FX1000s, but man, they are hard to compensate for when you need to hang them on a wall or create a stand for them. I saw some people complaining about a center that weighed 35 lbs... boo hoo! the CS1000p is just about 50 lbs!!!!

As for the topic, I hang out at carsound.com, and check up on audioholics.com and twice.com for news (not forums, but daily stops for me).

The CS1000p isnt really a center...

Its like a tower - I mean really, it is taller than my surround towers by 3"... and they are 32" tall. It's an effing beast dude!

The FX1000 isnt that big though :( Sorry... It's big...but not that big :D - it is pretty deep though, I think that comes from the power port though...hmmm - or does it not have a power port?? Weird... They should make TOWER bipolar surrounds like the FX1000 - like 80" tall so you dont need any kindof stands. Imagine THAT!
