Sub hook up help

Hi,
I have the Polk RM6800 system........I received from Circuit City, with a free Onkyo TX-LR552 receiver. The Receiver has a hook up for the sub, that is a small outlet-looks to be stereo plug size, however the sub has no mate for it. The instructions said the prefered hook up for sub is on the speaker in connections, then hook front speakers to speaker out connections. With this set-up, I don't believe sub is putting out anything. Doing test of speakers, there is no clear sound just coming out of sub. Should I use a splitter stereo connector from receiver to Line In, red and white, or is the system indeed working ok? I really don't feel the Bass is coming through, as it's now wired.

First check that the receiver's sub speaker is turned on/enabled.

Instead of using the speaker wire method, you can connect a sub cable from the receiver's sub pre-out to the line-in left connection on the sub. Also,if you want, you can use a Y-splitter to connect the receiver's sub-out to both the left/right line-in jacks at the same time.

I turned the subs volume all the way up and it's working..............if I think it'll need more, I'll go with the Y connection. I had to turn receivers sub setting off, as per manual.......but with volume on sub way up, I get good bass now.

The Y-splitter is supposed to give you an db increase in input so you don't have to turn the volume up all the way on the sub..

Pick, Can I know How much you paid for the 6800 @ circuit city. I brought rm6750 at FRy's with Onkyo LR 552 rec for $499. I am planning to return and buy 6800 if the price is not too high.

with a sub sat system your best bet is the speaker wire method
