    Default Panamax in the house

Well, as another perk to working at a dealer, I am taking advantage of yet another acommodation. If any of you are not familiar with Panamax, they are a company exclusively focused on creating high end line conditioners. I currently have a Monster HTS 5100 power center, but Panamax is giving me $700 in credit toward one of their units for the chance to blow up my Monster unit, as an example of how they do not protect as well as advertised. For one, several of the capacitors are there for show, and when they blow them up and take off the top, you can see that current never even passed through them. Another is that no matter the load, Panamax units just shut off when surged, instead of blow up, so you don't have to go out and replace them.
Anyway, with my points and dealer pricing, plus the Monster exchange, I'm getting a FREE Max 5500 EX line conditioner. Retails for $1000.
I'll post my comparisons to the Monster within the coming days. I'll also be looking forward to seeing them blow up my Monster.
Their facility is actually local (in Petaluma, CA), so they will come to the store and do it, where my co-workers can check it out too. Pretty cool!

That's fascinating. A video of that would be awesome. You have to get some pics of the "show capacitors".

My Monster 3500 MKII has turned off some of the outlets on it four or five times during electrical storms, so I can't complain.

very cool, only way it could be better was if Noel Lee and his attorney would stand by their product and stick their finger inside the output while holding hands.

Haha! I would love to know all of the non-audio companies that are paying Noel to use the word "monster". (I got my power conditioner before I learned all the dirt)

I'm no expert, but that sounds like a line the Panamax rep is trying to feed you. I don't believe Monster would bother putting the caps in there just for show. Too much money. And we know they are stingy. ;)

Not trying to derail the Panamax bandwagon or anything, but any company's reps are there to put their products in a good light. Now back to your regularly scheduled Monster bashing... :D
