The PSW1000 is kind of like Bigfoot or the Loch Ness Monster. Sheesh, release it already!

I saw an LSiW at the Tweeter near Trenton NJ, it was less than 600 dollars, didnt they recall all of these? I only mention this because the PSW1000 and the LSiW are supossed to be similar, or the same.

LSiWs were recalled. No one should be selling them as of *roughly* a year ago.

PSW1000 has an upgraded amp (possibly other things, possibly not... I'm not part of that project) from the LSiW.

The sub you saw at Tweeter in Lawerenceville Nj is a floor model and it discontinued.
We are getting rid of it. It sounds good and is in good shape. If anyone is near the area , it's a good chance to own the sub that wasn't. It's the only one we have.

I also gotta be honest. this is one of the reasons I got out of LSI. I waited forever to see the LSIW. Then we got it in and you guys know what happened after that. I don't see why Polk can't build a high end sub. There other speakers are great. We have had them for sometime now and I Install Polk all the time. There inwalls are killer. I have done tons of theater with them.
Funny we rarely sell a Polk sub with polk speakers. We sell Velodyne SPL and DD . Customers perfer these subs over the polk subs we carry. Even when we sell a full RTI system, it's rare for customers to choose the Polk sub. I see the SPL on almost every RTI job...... shame as there subs do sound good. They should have got the LSIW out or the replacement PSW1000..... damn shame.

The LSiW's were recalled because customers reported seeing smoke coming out the back of them. Not sure I'd want to take the chance even at $600. Although, maybe you could purchase the extended warranty, then if it does smoke, you get it replaced with the new PSW1000!

I too have been waiting for the PSW1000 to become available. I like the idea of sticking with the same brand of speakers througout but now that some of you have pointed me towards the SVS PB12 Plus/2 as an option at the same price point..... 2 X 12' @ 1000watts down to 16hz vs 2 X 10" @ 400watts down to 20Hz? The only things at this point that entice me about the PSW1000 are the much smaller footprint and the design. Wish Polk would come out with a sub like the PSW1200 of the past.

-3db = 30hz. I'm sure it goes lower and perhaps with great output (100+dbs). There's just alot of competition at this price point that exceeds these specs.

Just called the local Tweeter and asked about the arrival date for the PSW1000. The sales guy said that the sub's model number is in their computer systems at a regular price of $999. He had no arrival date as of now.

It seems like decent sub. I have the PSW650 which thumps pretty good.

I am willing to put my sub up against two of these and I am willing to bet that I will blow those subs out the water. :D :D :D

Here's a fairly simple comparison. I'm also curious how they compare. Not sure a sub can go as low with 10's as it can with 12's. PRobably the size of the old PSW1200 was a deterrent to many HT buyers. I'd like to know what Polk feels are the key differences between the PSW1000 and other subs in the same price range.

    PSW1200 - 2X12" drivers at 225watts continuous
    Overall Frequency Response
    20Hz - 140Hz
    -3dB Frequency Response Limits
    22Hz - 125Hz

    PSW1000 - 2X10" drivers @ 400watts continuous
    Overall Frequency Response 20Hz - 160Hz
    Lower -3dB Limit 30Hz
    Upper -3dB Limit 125Hz

Called Tweeter again. Polk has given them a date of November 14th to receive their first shipment of PSW1000's. Give them a few more days to get them unpacked and set up.
