    Default Rear Surround...RTi8's or RTi6's

I am building an all new home theater system that will be using a harman kardon AVR 635 and will probably be using RTi12's up front with a CSi5 center and wanted to know what you polk guys recomend for rear surrounds. The options are the RTi8's or RTi6's I have very nice pedistal stands that I made myself if I decide to go with the 6's so there will be no extra cost. i will be using this 75% or more for movies. It will be a 5.1 setup of course. Kinda thinking the 8's will sit about 6 inches too low because of high walls on the couch and I need the sound up near the ears. I do not want to lift a tower speaker off the ground because it would look stupid and might effect sound quility out of lower port. Please let me know your expert opinions. my room is only 15 X 15. and the rears will be ablut 2 feet from my head lol. because I can not get them back against the wall any farther.
    Thanks, Drew

Well ideally the best is 5 matches speakers but of course it's hard to get a tower center or what not and well yes if you don't like towers llifted than well just go with the bookshelves especially if you want to use your stands.

Most of the time surround effects don't get as much info/strain/ and bass that is required of the front sound stage so it's not AS important.

I would say save your money and show off your stands get the bookshelves.

or if they are really close get dipole/bipole

    Default Go for the RTi6s

I have the RTi6s as surrounds and love them! They match the CSi5 perfectly.

    Welcome to the forum.
    I have RTi6's matched with a CSi5, RTi38's & RTi100's. I like the RTi6's, very good speaker for the price.

RTi6's, primarily because they can be hung on the wall alot easier then the RTi8's. Surround speakers ideally should be approximately 6 feet off the ground the best surround effect, rather then on the floor.

Is it worth it for me to upgrade from my RTi4's to RTi6's for my surrounds? It will cost me $140+tax to do so.

Money isn't a problem if I would notice the difference. If there would basically be no difference then I would be wasting my money....

    RTi8 - ONE HUNDRED PERCENT!

One thing, you will have to raise them off the floor till they are about 2 feet away from the ceiling - remember that.

Also, full range (tower) surrounds OWN bookshelf surrounds in every form. Just make sure you set them to LARGE to take advantage of having larger surrounds. I love full range center and surrounds.

i was gonna go with rti8's for 7.1 surrounds. that way i'd have all matching speaks minus the center and the svs, but i ran out of space in my room.

If you watch recent action movies. There is a chance you will notice a differance in some sound effects, like fly-overs, explosions, thunder.
