Polyswitches

OK, two questions.

First, I called Ken and ordered the polyswitches, which came today.
But they are orange, not blue. And the schematic doesnt match at all the crossover I have, my crossover comes out the front, secured by 8 hex screws, it looks exactly like the crossover in DarqueKnights crossover rebuild thread.

I have always called these speakers "SDA-SRS's". Since there seems to be confusion, what should I call them?

Now, secondly, is it safe to use the orange polyswitches instead of the blue ones? Or will I blow them out the first time I put power to them? Anybody know?

I don't see any confusion, that is what they are called. ???

Nice! Are these 1.2TL's? Check out the labels on the back. It should read 1.2 or 1.2TL. From what I read the crossovers on the 1.2 TL's are slightly different from the 1.2's.

The drivers are (per spkr) 4 SL2000's, and 8 MW 6503's.

And of course the interconnect cable.

OK. Rather than putting the orange polyswitches in, I bypassed the ones there. I know, I know, don't play it too loud!

Surprisingly, improved definition. Brighter sound, and certainly tighter bass. I know, doesn't make sense.

They look different because they are different switches with a different value. You know, as in upgraded/improved switches over the stock ones.

I know you already got a bit impatient and bypassed but you asked so.....

1) Yes, they are safe.
2) No, you will not blow them out.

They sound so freakin good with them bypassed, unless I get real ambitious, I might just leave them that way.

Are the RDO tweeters that much better it justifies another 400 bux into these puppies?

Brighter sound? That's not something I would want from my speakers. Besides, those SL2000's are too effing bright already!

Well, I like them that way! Hearing things I never heard before... I also am basically using a ten band graphic equalizer as a pre-amp, so I have alot of control.

To each their own, but no self respecting audiophool uses a graphic equalizer for any reason. Stick around, you have much to learn.

With your signal running through a signal distorter err, controler like that a little'ol poly switch in the loop would certainly be the least of your worries. ;)

The eq is so that he can add a 10 db bump in that ever so important 13khz spot those SL-2000 tweets are weak in. He likes it hot!!! :D

No, I am the original owner, purchased at some high end audio store in north Seattle summer, 86. IIRC, 33 hundred and change, and I paid a friend of mine 100 bucks to help me move them.
