Default Center Channel Choices for Polk Monitors

    Howdy,

I am new to the forum and to Polk Speakers.

I am putting together a midrange quality 7.1 HT system in
    my basement, 10'x18'.
I just got an Onkyo 603 (new 7.1, 90 watts per channel)
and new Monitor speakers from Tweeter, 2 Monitor 60's for fronts
and 4 Monitor 30's for the surrounds and rears as well as the PSW10 sub.
For me this puchase was a no-brainer
choice because Tweeter had a half-priced special (European versions)
of these Polks making them affordable for me and the sub was free.
I am very happy with the set.

What is less obvious is the choice of center channel.
I could go with the CS1 (best value, best match), CS2 (bigger)
or the CSi3 (RTi line, expected to be brighter and maybe
sharper relative to the CS1 and CS2?).
Can I get some recommendations and reasoning from the
experts and experienced out there and an opinion as to the choice
they would or have made in such a situation? I would really appreciate it.

    Chris

Pick up another pair of the Monitor 30 Euros on sale, and use one of them.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

cs2...............don't mix timber...............Csi3 is a nice centre for your room area, but the transition across your front soundstage wouldn't be as smooth.

The CS 1&2s will be the match. If you have dialog issues the CSi3 will cure it.

I like RuSs' idea. But if you just got to have one that says its a center the other fellows are steering you correctly.

Hi and welcome to Club Polk Polka.

Two Monitor 30's. Same price as one cs1, basically the same speaker. Use the 2nd for spare parts or sell it.
