    Default Help Me Decide

I have a new speaker choice to make for Christmas, and I am looking for some opinions. My choices are between subs and surrounds. My present setup is great and I love it, but you all know how this hobby is! Hear are my options:

    1. Upgrade the rear surrounds from FXi3s to FXi5s. Have FXi5s on the side already.

    2. Upgrade HSU-STF-2 Sub to VTF-3 MK2

    or

    3. Upgrade PB10-ISD sub to PB12-ISD

Looking at my current setup, which of these choices would you make? Or do you think based on the current setup, none of them will make that much of a difference?

Why don't you upgrade the Polk to another Hsu sub? Do you run them both for HT or use them separately for movies and music? I don't think that upgrading the rears from Fxi3s to Fxi5s are going to make a huge difference unless there is a tambre matching issue ( I have not heard them but I am sure others here know).

Only the sub change would be heard IMO, but I would lose 2 small mismatched subs and get one big sub if setup allows. It is so much easier to tune with 1 location. The surrounds won't be noticed at all.

All-in-all you have a nicely balanced system as it is.

    Thats areal nice thought ND.

I kind of thought upgrading the FXi3's to 5 wouldn't make that much of a difference, but you guys gave me something I hadn't thought about with the subs. When running a dual sub setup I guess it seems best to keep both drivers the same size. If you mix a 12" woofer, with a 10" woofer, would the 12" overshadow the 10"?

I agree Dennis, I enjoy the system as is, and use it solely for movies. I just may divert the energies towards putting together a smaller secondary system in another part of the house. Thanks for your input guys.

    Ever tried stacking your subs?

    Just a thought.

Couldn't stack the two subs I have now reeltrouble, but with the right combo that would be a thought. I have no problems with my current setup, just have the opportunity to pick up a new item, and was thinking which way to go.

Dennis made a lot of sense, and all of you have really helped me think this through a little further, in order to get the best bang for my buck.
