    Default Mini Monitor Question

I'm a stereo novice, so please forgive me if this is a dumb question. . .

I have a pair of Mini Monitors that, up to last week, sounded great, even after all there years! I'm using the as surrounds with R50 fronts, a PSW202 and CS1 center. Last week, I noticed a "crackeling" from one of the Mini Monitors. If i take the grill off and lightly touch the foam around the woofer, the crackeling stops. I'm guessing it's a blown woofer????

If so, is a replacement available, or am I better off tossing them and getting a new pair of surrounds?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

I'm not familiar with your Mini Monitors, but if Polk made them, they usually have the parts. Call Customer Service at 1-800-377-7655 x 891.

6.5 inch two way from the early 90's. 3/4" Mylar tweeter, same midbass as in the S-Series, and some early RT.

    MW7500 is your part number.

Thanks for the info! So was I correct in assuming that the woofer is shot?

I re-read your post, your mini mons shouldn't have foam surrounds, they should be rubber (if it's a 6.5 inch driver). Sounds like the voicecoil may have expanded a little, or the pole piece is off center, if so, it's time for a new woofer.
