Question Question about RTA 11TL Tweeters

I'm new to ClubPolk and I don't know as much as those of you on the forum so I would appreciate your help.

I've owned a pair of Monitor 7's for about 15years, or so. I've always liked the sound. When I bought them, I listened to a lot of speakers in the price range of the 7s and it boiled down to Polks or Mission; the Polks won out. I just simply liked them; and have ever since.

Anyway, I recently bought a pair of RTA 11TLs on Ebay. Just got them yesterday in fact. They are really nice, been well taken care of. But the tweeters are different. They look like SL3000, they both have "polk audio" inscribed in a circle around the dome four times; but one has a foam circle between the writing and the dome, the other does not. In fact it looks slightly different than the one with the foam, like it never had foam; it doesn't look like there would be room for it. Does anyone have any idea what I've got here? I can't say I hear any difference but I've only listened a short time.

    Thanks.

Do the tweeters have labels on the back?

Here are the pictures, the one with the foam is the SL3000, the one without the foam has no labels.

The no label tweeter is the new replacement RD0198-1, which most people prefer to the SL3000.

When I got the tweeters replaced in my RTA11TL, the replacement was for both the 2500 and 3000 tweeter. Is this normal?

Thanks. It's amazing that you can still get replacement parts for a 12yr old speaker.

    Yes.
    RD0198-1 replaces SL2500 and SL3000.
RD0194-1 replaces SL2000 and SL1000 (the latter may require enlargement of the frame recess route in the baffle.)

So if you've got an SRS 1.2TL, and 1 or 2 of the tweeters died. Can you get the RD0198-1 to 'drop in' or do you have to replace them all to match?

You can drop them in, but for the best match, replace all of them.
