Peerless / 2000 tweets

Ok, I know I'm being disgustingly lazy here by not checking it out myself but does anyone know off hand if a spare pair of peerless tweets I have stored would /could be direct replacements for the 2000s in my CRSs?

Edit to say: I know the 2000 and the RD replacements won't just drop into a peerless tweeter or 1000 opening.
If I gotta dig em out I will I guess. :)

The Peerless will drop in the 2000's hole, just not vice versa...

No idea on the 1000...

SL2000 - No. It may fit in the hole but it won't line up with the existing mounting holes.

SL1000 - Yes.

Is the mounting hole alignment a big deal?

If you want to drill new holes into the speaker, then I guess not. It would also depend on the baffle as I've found some SL2000 cutouts larger or smaller than others.

If the cutout is the small type, that would be good...the larger may not allow the tweeter to be secured properly or even sealed.

Gracias... I was thinking the seal might take care of the old mounting holes.

I'm only going off what I've seen personally. I had a pair of Monitor10B's and when I tried to remove the tweeters, I thought they were glued in place. I had to tap them out from the rear with a rock hammer. The hole was barely big enough for the magnet structure.

I'll digress and say that I only found that twice in 20 or so vintage Polk's that have crawled into the house....it's worth the time to check I guess.

The smaller baffle openings in my SDA 2s required clearancing for the lower mounted terminals on the Peerless when retrofitting from the center mounted terminals on the SL2000. As to why I didn't order the RDO-194 as replacements, Polk CS sent me an SL1000 as a replacement for my Monitor 10As back in the early 90s (pre internet for me) without disclosing that the originals were Peerless and still in production even though they weren't using them anymoore. Upon calling them I was even informed that the new tweeter was smoother and more detailed albiet slightly hotter!
