    Default Sound deadening has started

    before:

after, this is all i have done right now but i did put some foam in the crossmembers

why you want to spend money on a razor knife

    the truck tore apart

picture of the mat under the drivers seat

picture of the mat on the roof

picture of the sludge under the drivers seat

picture of the sludge on the almost finished head liner

thats all i have right now, i was going to work on it tonite but i forgot my light at work so itll have be tomorrow. Hopefully tomorrow ill be able to lay mat across where the seats should be and sludge that, followed by the paint on stuff.

1 layer on the roof with the sludge 3-5mm thick. Even with 3kw, i dont think ill have any flexing at all out of the roof. fun times

Damn bro, youve got way more patience than I do. There is no way I would undertake all that.

The only big jobs I can tackle are the ones that I can walk away from for a day or so when I get really pissed off.

yea, i have some wires that go across the floor. I had some speaker wire laying around and i needed to get the wire out of the way so i tied it up:D

i got mat layed across all where the front seats would be and got it all sludged. The head liner is done as well. Im going to put a couple layers of the spectrum spray and then put the seats back in. Hopefully get the layers done tomorrow and have the seats bolted in the day after.

What's the point of putting stuff on the hood? How does that make a big enough difference to replace the typical hoodliner?

makes the cabin quieter. I had those two pieces on it and put expandable foam in the crossmembers and at 2500 rpms, there was a 3 dB drop inside the cab

head liner is done! so is where the seats go. Head liner has 1 layer of mat and 4-5mm thick of sludge. Floor is one layer of mat, 3-4mm thick of sludge, 4 coats of the liquid stuff which is a little thicker than paint.
Tomorrow the seats go back in:D

yay, the truck is driveable again with all the seats in the front back in!!!! That should hold me over for a while. I'm going to try and put mat between the seats and the dash tomorrow. Sunday I want to put sludge over it since I'll have a lot of time to let it dry and put the head liner on. Thats the goal, hopefully ill be able to lay some mat down in the extended cab part as well. All is going well.

Cody, is it really needed to cover all of the surface like that? I was under the impression the vibration dampener absorbed vibration.

Excellent job, BTW. Is that BLOOD I see on that razor???

if you just want to stop some vibrations or rattles, then no, it is not necessary to cover everything. But I'm going to have 3000 watts going through this truck so to stop vibrations, I gotta cover damn near everything:D Plus, it also helps in sound proofing the truck where as if you only put it in certain places, youd still be getting a lot of outside noise.

It also helps in cutting down on things resonating that shouldnt be. The more sound proofing you have the better. Remeber the rooms at Polk HQ where they tested speakers? Its kinda the same principle. ;)

head liner fits back in fine! All I gotta do is screw in the overhead console and thats basically it. A-pillars are back up.

On a side note, I think I'm going to pick up some q-forms. Throw my tweeters and midranges in there and have the midbass in the door still. This way I can have at least decent sq. Best of all, q-forms run me about 30 bucks shipped to my house. Gotta love accomadations.:D

No shame in that at all! If the Almighty SR6500's would fit in them I wouldnt hesitate to grab a set. Firm em up with a ton of Dynamat and youre all set!

the SRs are staying in the old lady's car. I was talking about my iridiums :D
and I'm pretty sure the SRs would NOT fit. Most q-forms are for 6" speakers, not 6.5s
