    Default C300.2 or C400.4?

I am going to purchase two sets of SR6500 components, one set placed in the front doors and the other set in the rear deck. Which would be the best choice to power this setup: (2) C300.2 Polk MOMO amps or (1) C400.4 Polk MOMO amp? Any help and input is greatly appreciated.

Line out your space before you make a decision. I have a 400.4 running my 2 sets of 6500's and I really like it. Without doing a custom custom install, i wouldn't have a lot of room for a second amp.

Brett makes a good point but more than likely youll have room for both amps.

The 400.4 would work just fine to power both sets but having the extea power would be nice so long as you use it wisely.

Thanks for the advice MacLeod and Brett. I really have to take into consideration the room and space involved, since I am looking forward to getting the Signature Reference subs also. But I think I will have enough room if I choose 2 300.2 amps.

What kind of car are you planning on getting this stuff installed in?

I feel ya on the subs potential purchase. I've been against getting a sub with my install, and sice getting the 6500's in, I think more and more about getting the subs, if for no other reason than they lookin sexy as hell.

    Good luck............

Youre thinking about subs because Upgraditus isnt exclusive to home audio, its just as contagious an epidemic on this side of the world as well! ;)

I'm planning to get this stuff installed in my '95 Chevy Caprice Classic. I am currently running 2 sets of MM6 components, one set on the front doors and one set on the rear deck, powered by two 300.2 amps. I understand how the whole sub thing is contagious because I was actually thinking of installing one sub. I am currently not running any subs.
But like Brett said, I have to consider space because with this current set up I placed the amps flat in the trunk behind the rear seats. In doing that I kind of shot myself in the foot because where the amps currently are would have been a good spot to place a sub. I blew one MM6 speaker and warranty already expired, so I figured its time to upgrade to the SR6500 speakers. Once I install the SR6500 speakers and if I get the Signature Reference sub (or subs), I have these options:

1.) Keep amps in their currently location and install one sub in the rear right corner of the trunk in a sealed box (the spare tire is taking up the left rear corner of space). Is subwoofer placement crucial? Will this spot affect bass response? How will it sound? That sub, depending on the RMS wattage, will be powered by a third 300.2 amp. or...

2.) Depending on the number of subs, place the sub or subs (firing towards the rear) where the amps currently are (in the trunk right behind the rear seat). Now I think for my musical taste, one sub will suffice. If I put one sub there, then with the remaining space I can place the amps next to it. I have talked to some people and they say one sub will not suffice and I should go with two considered the size the trunk and car. If I were to get two subs then I shall have to place the amps in the sides of the trunk on customs panels. If I go that route then I MIGHT have to consider getting a 400.4 to power the SR6500 because space on the sides of the trunk might be limited. But then again who knows.

What do you think of my options? Or does any one have any other options/ideas?

I think sticking with a single sub placed in the corner of the trunk is the best way to go.
