    Default Y splitter hook up

Going to try a splitter to gain more volume with my sub. Do I split it on the pre amp or the sub. Not sure where the splitter should be put. I am trying this to power on better my sub. The sub is a Vel dls 5000. I have contacted Velodyn and they suggested this as a fix. We will see. Thanks Doug

If there is only 1 subwoofer out on the receiver, use the y-adapter there.
The Velodyne should have both a Left & Right input. A Splitter there would be irrelevant.

The use of a Y splitter is optional. Y splitting a LFE signal will allow a hotter signal to be inputted into the sub, however it is not going to change the maximum capacity of the sub. Using a Y splitter will be similar to bumping the volume control on the back of the sub slightly. If you're looking for more output, I would consider moving the subwoofer around the room, or buying a second, identical subwoofer.

Hey Eric Eric I was trying to get more imput to my sub. It was not powering on unless I increased the volume. I have the splitter and I will give that a try. Thanks Doug

Wow, never heard that one before.

My initial thought was that I would repair the problem with several M-80's and a match. Not very cost effecient though.

I guess if the Y-split boosts the signal the amp will pick it up, some type of impedence mismatch from your receiver I presume.
