(In case you don't know, I drive a '95 Cherokee.)

A few months ago coming home from supper on a 'wet and rainy night', I pulled out of the parking lot onto a side street and decided to have some fun on the wet road. Not a big deal as it certainly wasn't the first time, but it was a big deal. 'Cause for some reason my mind was in la-la land and I totally wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and ended up running into (actually under) a chain link fence. I had to use 4wd to back out of it.

Anyhoo, it got all scratched up on the front left corner, and we just took it to one of Dad's customers to get fixed up Tuesday. I'm fixing to walk out the door to pick it up, so here's hoping it looks like new like it did before I messed it up.

I feel for you. I have done plenty of damage to many a car in my day. Too many to talk about and I don't want to be a thread hog/hijacker.

Ok, just got back. And guess what? It was dark and stormy on the way back home today, too! But thankfully I was a little more careful! :p

Just so y'all know...in case you were wondering...Dad and I managed to find the owner of the property where the fence was, and I went out and helped replace fence posts (bent two) and straighten the fence back out. Took all of about 20 minutes, so I got out of this one very lucky.

I washed it Monday and managed to take some pictures of it Tuesday before we took it in, so here they are. Some of them don't do a real good job of showing the damage, but it really wasn't that much.

Pic #1 The first pic shows the front driver's side corner that bore the brunt of the collision and also had the most damage by far.

Pic #2 ...'nother angle.

Pic #3 Here's the front piece that goes across and has the 'Jeep' emblem on it. It got all scratched up, though most of the scratches weren't too deep.

Pic #4 Here you can see where the fence 'grabbed a holt of' the front end and took a few small chunks out of it.

Pic #5 This is a pic of the A-pillar. It got scratched up, too. (I told ya I went up under it!)

Pic #6 Covering that ugly bare metal edge is supposed to be a pretty black piece of metal molding. The fence grabbed it and yanked it off (mean fence!). I told ya..I really went under that thing! lol I later went back by and was able to pull the piece out from the fence relatively unscathed.

Which rear axle do have on your Jeep. I've got a couple of 27 spline axle shafts for an 8.25" sitting in the garage. My axle is 29 spline so I can't use 'em. Let me know if you need one for a trail spare. $25 each plus freight.

I do have the Chrysler 8.25 rear end, but I'm probably not going to end up hitting the trails. I might get to at some point in the future, at which time I will remember your offer. Thanks for the generosity, but I can't make use of it right now.

Hey, dont feel bad. New years eve a couple of years ago, I come home drunk, realize my car is in the street (where there's no overnight parking) so go to move it into the driveway... and basically scratch the whole side of my (brand new at the time) truck up along my fence. Nice gouge too.

THhe lesson - don't ever drive drunk, even in your own driveway.

I went to park my car close to my house once, and I accidentally drove an L bracket (that was supposed to have a planter on it) into my grill, and damn near through the radiator.

Thats the closest call I've had. My friend parked his car in a ditch once, and since it was lowered, he had to call a tow truck to get it out, and when they pulled it onto the truck, the exhaust bottomed out on the truck and tore a piece of the plastic bumper and dinted the fart can all to hell. He sure felt good watching this at 2am.
