For sure not my favorite concept of the new Camaro that I've seen, but livable. I'm ecstatic they're bringing it back, though! And it better keep the Camaro name!

scheduled for 2007 but I doubt it. GM's about to hit bankruptcy. A new rear wheel pony car is not going to turn that company around.

Going after the Mustang I presume...

I think it will help some. The new Mustang is selling like hotcakes and has helped Ford recoup some of its losses.

I have faith in GM. Theyve been around for far too long to go under. Theyll pull out of this eventually.

Tour has a point too. GM doesnt seem to be setting any trends lately. Chrysler started taking chances with their designs and its paid off big time. Ford finally started following suit although most of their cars are extremly boring. GM doesnt have anything other than vanilla cars. Theyre good automobiles but they just dont stir up any excitment.

As for buying a new Camaro, I can cause Im waiting for the new Challenger to come out! :D

It will never be built. The bean counters won't ok it. GM needs mass market, high volume models to keep it out of bankruptcy. A Camaro won't make enoungh money to recover design and tooling for several years.

I think if your GM you have to be creative to draw the attention back to there brand. It's a good move by GM in my opion. I think American needs to support GM and buy there products to help them get out of this bind there in.

GM is burning through there cash hoard of 16 billion. They lost some 4 billion dollars last year. If they keep that rate up they will have to file for bankruptcy by 2008. This year is going to be a very important year for GM to try and improve sales.

If Gm has to file for chapter 11 it's going to be felt widespread across american. They employ some 350,000 workers.

And do you know what those 350,000 workers make on average? You'd think they were saving lives.

Like Olds, GM needs to dispose of Buick, Pontiac, and GMC.
Saturn for upmarket, Caddy for luxury- Chevy for everything else.
GM isn't selling anything at a profit b/c they can't forge an identity for their products- which in turn doesn't establish a connection with buyers. That's why they go to the Toyota/Honda dealerships.

Same with Ford/Lincoln/Mercury. Ditch Mercury but keep their higher build standard for Ford autos. Then totally re-do Lincoln from the ground up. They suck right now.

Daimler/Chrysler is getting it right- thanks to heavy European influence and actual balls for original designs- but like Ford & GM, they still have a long way to go when it comes to quality control.

like i said before- the Camaro is the least of GM's problems. Build it when you get your **** straight.

GM is not going into bankruptcy anytime soon. GM's cash cow is not thier car division, it is GMAc financing. GMAC accounts for 85% of GM business. They lost 5 billion, but still have 40 billion in cash reserves and their GMAC sectors. Their stock went up today. I agree they are going down and I would never buy a GM product, they need to come back smaller and make cars right. That is Toyota did and is about to overtake them.

GM had to briung back the Camaro. The main reason is that they have a factory in Canada, where all Camaros are built, that is about to end production on trucks. Due to Union contracts, they had the choice to close the plant and still pay the workers 95% of thier salaries for the next 3 years, or have them actually work and build something. Camaro is back. They also need to compete against the Mustang which is a huge success. They have nothing in their line to compete right now. The GTO is a failure. It is a Lumina with a Vette engine.

They have to nix that grill. It looks like a smiley face. Who wants a 400 HP muscle car with a smiley face?

Is it me, or does every U.S. car now come with stupid amounts of power. I mean 400 HP is nice, but since now every Chrysler product has Hemi, a lot of GM's have the same LS2 at 400 HP, it is no longer exciting.

BTW who real care's about the 350,000 workers? In today’s world sorry to say, it's all about stock price. Being a "Blue Collar" worker myself it's a bit painful to consider but it's the fact IMHO.

The grill kinda reminds me of the 69 Yenko Camaro... other than that, it really doesn't do anything for me.

Maybe, but throw in their phenomenal health plan that stays with them post-retirement and the answer is probably more like $65-70 an hour. The automaker's health plan would make Communists/Socialists/Democrats very happy.

Also, don't forget about the JOBS Bank. Paying folks 80%+ to do NADA. I think it's costing around 1/2 billion a year, according to a recent WSJ article. That ain't chump change even to GM-like entities.
