    Lightbulb SPL Roomsize Calculator

I made a nifty tool, an online calculator (with valuable help from Brad Starobin -- a Polk Engineer) that recommends a subwoofer choice based on your room size and type of main speakers used. We would like you polkies to test it and make comments and suggestions prior to making it public on the website. It's located here:

    http://www.polkaudio.com/home/toolbox/splroomsize/

Play around with it -- is it useful? Easy to use? How 'bout the title? Getting an error? Anything that pops in your head!

Email me directly (webmaster@polkaudio.com) with any feedback you may have, or post it here.

    Thanks for your help guys!

I'll be damned. One of the recommended subs was the one I bought. Polk didn't have the 550 back then, but I do have the 350.

No errors or problems for me. I couldn't find the SDA 1.2's listed though.

It's a nice way to do it.
But my question is when are we going to see the replacement sub for the pws1200.
Can we expect a new sub that can play solid down to 20hz??Or lower??

You are going to find it VERY hard to hit 126 dB in a normal sized room. You could do it in a closet or something similar in size to a car interior. Remember, sustained exposure to that kind of SPL WILL damage your hearing permanently. You don't want to be wearing a hearing aid when you're 35, do you? It does NOT help in picking up babes.

Question Why not include the vintage Polks?

Very nice program, but I'd feel better if you didn't abandon those of us with vintage Polk SDAs. Your Polk subwoofers will work just as well with the vintage stuff as the new stuff, right? Why limit your potential market unneccessarily?

To all those asking about adding SDA and more models to the sub calculator. It will be done. We are trying to avoid having a pull down menu that is a mile long with every conceivable model Polk has ever made. That will take a little time (a few weeks) but we will get it done.
