    Question Dared SL2000A tube Preamp

    This is available on Ebay for $399, has anyone heard one of these? How does it compare to a Bottlehead Foreplay (I, II, III) or a Dodd ELP?

    HTrookie just bought one a while back and loves it. Do a search (within the Polkaudio forum) on it, and you should all kinds of discussion we had about it a while back. Also, I believe HTrooke and ND13 posted their thoughts comparing the Dared to the Dodd ELP. That should prove helpful to you.

    I had one and thought it was very nice, my only complaint was the remote volume control, hard to just go up a little, it like to go up a lot.

    Other than that it was very good sounding.

    The ad seems a bit off to me. Likely grey market, possible warranty problems, etc. I would pay a bit more and get the Dodd, they guy who builds them lives in Texas.

    I bought it from this guy; no complaints (great communication, fast shipment, etc). RT1 has a point though; the Dared comes from China and this is just a distributor (or yes, grey market). Since I never asked the warranty question I just sent an email asking them. Will share if I get an answer.

    The seller is legit. English is not his "first language". Frank Z (rhymes with Early B) has one as well.

    "I will usually offer 60 days warranty for sale online or ebay, audiogon price. Of course, one year warranty if you paid the MSRP, but this is almost never happen.
