Pure Direct vs Direct Stereo (Help!)

Hi everybody !!!! :)

I need some help and information about the "pure direct" and "direct stereo" modes availables on the most receiver brands.

I Have a Yamaha RX-V657 and don't know the real quality difference about this modes to listen ONLY 2CH audio. What's the best ?? Why ???

OK. Pure direct is most clean signal than direct right ??? For music or for movies too ?

i beleive in pure direct the signal is more concentrated to the speakers, the receiver will turn off all un-necessary things like the digital display for instance. direct stereo will leave these things running. there is a slight difference between the two but not much really, pure direct is good for music, but i also like listening to music in dts-neo6,
for movies i would just stick to 5.1 or 6.1 ,most movies are made for it these days so why would you watch them in stereo.

Pure Direct is for people that believe that extra devices, flourescent displays, etc have an effect on sound quality. There's no right or wrong. I would consider it a nice perk to have that option, which I do have available in a couple pieces of gear.

Direct Stereo - I have no idea.

Pure Direct kills all unnecessary processing and circuits, including video processing/switching, and front display, etc... This also bypasses any speaker settings made, as well as bass management, and sub. It will play any source in full range stereo to your mains.

Direct stereo will play any source is standard stereo. However this will leave all video circuits active as well as bass management selections. So if you have your two mains set to small your subwoofer will still operate.

Sorry left that out. In pure direct mode bass and treble adjustments are also bypassed.

Anybody has experience with MONSTER cables ??? I mean, is recommended uses Monster cables, for example, to connect dvd player-receiver via digital coaxial ??? It has better sound quality??

As far as speaker wire goes, Monster Cable does not advertise their gauge. Instead they run a plastic insert through the middle of their stranded cable to make it appear as thick as equivalent size gauge. On top of this, they sell their cable at a premium price.

I have found that I could purchase better quality cable at a cheaper price at Blue Jean Cables. From a company like BJ, I know exactly what size wire I am getting, the quality I am getting, the connectors I am getting, and all for about half the price of the advertised Monster cable.

It just puts a bad taste in your mouth to have someone tell you how great they are but are not confident enough to give you any specs to compare quality. Monster is to cable as Bose is to speakers.

I thought that Plastic insert was a New Magical dohickey
that M Cable uses to improve signal clarity.
I've been buying 14 guage cable with nice jackets
from a local HW store for 30cpf.

Other question....Is better the Coaxial Digital or Optical digital cables ??? What of those have superior quality ????
