Outlaw m200 monoblock amp

I am on a budget, and have found a couple of Outlaw m200's for around 300 for two. Do not have much knowledge with amps. Will these add decent power to my two rti10's. The rest of my setup is an onkyo803, csi5 center, a pair of monitor 40's for surround. and a 10in dps velodyne subwoofer.

$150 each is cheap if they are of recent vintage, ie. less than 3 yrs. old. The warranty is 5 yrs and is transferrable if you have the original purchasers name and address. Outlaw doesn't track them by serial#, obviously technology eludes their customer database skills. So verify that you are buying from the original purchaser, or can get the original purchasers name/address if they are less than 5 yrs. old. They are built like tanks! Outlaw is great on customer service even if you bought them used. Be aware they do have a higher noise floor than an Parasound, Adcom, or even the Outlaw multi-channel amps. It's not a problem for HT, just be aware you will hear more hiss if you put your ear up close to the speaker. I am running 6 M200's in my HT. Make sure they have good airflow around them and enjoy!

Yeah, I'd buy them on the lineage of the line alone. Designed by one of the big guys from GAS and SAE. You can do your homework, and read for enlightenment.

I bought two monoblocks for my two rti's, and I now am wondering if I should get a third for my csi5. I read that I may not get the correct sound if I don't have my entire fronts hooked up to amps. Do not have the amps yet but are on the way, so I can't listen to the difference in sound at the moment. Any Ideas.

dont panic until you hear it. its an upgrade to consider down the road, but I would be surprised if its some kind of emergency after hearing the set up. just calibrate like usual and you should be fine.

of course, if you can get another monoblock for the same price, then go get it, but if you have to get it new, then wait a while and see first

With the load taken off your receiver with the two main channels using external amps, you should be OK on the center. On the other hand, if you can get a 3rd M200 for the same price, you will never get a much cheaper upgrade to an external amp for the center.

Glad to see you bougth them. That's a steal! I would wait and hear what the setup sounds like wiht just the mains amped before buying a thrid. Yeah, amping the center would be nice, but calibrate your system with just the two and see if you like it. If so, you're good to go.

Recalibrate before you listen. I made the mistake of upgrading from an Adcom gfa 5500 to a 5800 without recalibrating and blew one woofer in my csi5. Now that I have my 5800 running my rti 150s and my 5500 split and running my csi5 I couldnt be happier. That is until I find another 5500 to run by rti 100s for my surround. Good luck and I'm sure you will be happy.

Ok I hooked my m200 to to my rti 10's, and they sound great. But the problem that I am having now is that the csi5 does give out sound that the two rtis. I tested the center by hooking it up to one of the monos, and the sound was much cleaner and clearer. I have tried to tweak the settings on my reciever in order to get it to match but have had no luck. I have been looking everywhere on line for a used m200 , and am having no luck. I have found marantz ma-500 and ma700 between $110 to $235 online. This is between the price range that I can afford right now. Would either of these be a good choice for the center or are their other monos amps in this price range that would do a good job. Or should I just save up and buy a new outlaw 2200.

Yep, if you haven't already, you will definitely need to recalibrate your channel levels to get equal output for all channels.

With my separate amps for my front L/R, I had to take them down about 5 dB to get them calibrated to the rest of the channels. For example, when I ran my auto-calibration, it set the center to -1 and fronts to -6 because of the higher output with the separate amps. Without the separate amps, the auto-calibration would set the front L/R to around -1 or -2 (due to similar sensitivity of front and center speakers and equal power to all channels provided by receiver).

I had a Marantz MA700 on my center channel that sounded a bit cleaner than the Outlaw monoblocks, IMO. Either the Marantz or another Outlaw would be good options.

I agree...an Outlaw may be better though to keep consistent but it would probably be ok either way.

Thank you again for the info. Will definately recalibrate the speakers, and if that doesn't work will get another amp.
