Box Ideas

Anyone have any ideas for me on building a new sealed sub enclosure to fit in the backseat of an extended cab tacoma. Pretty much any dimension based on the 1.25 cu in needed for the sub. Any links to dimensions or pictures of boxes. I will probably get the 3/4" mdf on tuesday or wednesday. Maybe something that I can put between the two back seats. Just something that will serve its purpose to the fullest. Thanks Macleod and everyone else for all of the advice.:o

hum... do you mean, how do you fit 1.25 ft^3 (not in^3 :p) under the bench? behind a row of seats? i'm not at all familiar with that truck, maybe being a little more specific would help others like me answer your question

Well there is enough room for pretty much anything. I am not looking for an integrated enclosure but some ideas on a box-dimensions. It will be just sitting on the floor.

Does the depth of the box matter compared to the depth of the sub? Can I make it low profile? Say 14"x14"x8" ? I am going to build the box soon. Any examples to make it easier. Which dirrection to face it. Thanks for all the help NEO. SQ is always best!!!

well, box dimensions are constrained by where you're putting it, obviously, so measure out your space, that'll tell you the maximum exterior dimensions of your box... then, change em around till you have your 1.25 ft^3 (probably just keep the depth and height the same, but change the width), and you're set...

yes, you can make it 'low-profile', just make sure there's at least an inch or more behind the magnet of the sub... and in a big cab, i'd face it forward...

Just another quick question sorry. What happens if I change the overall cubic feet of the enclosure. This would change the Qtc facter right. Is it good or bad to change this? Just sooo curious. Oh well.

generally speaking, a larger box will make for a slightly lower maximum SPL and a slightly worsened transient response in exchange for a slightly deeper response
