    Default Pass Labs X600 & Outlaw 990

I just got through spending about 10 hours with those 150 pound beast...

600 watts into one channel... -- amazing looking (and sounding) amps...

The new Outlaw is a big mother cracker - no other way to put it, thing is extroidinarly LARGE... and tons of hook ups. It took a long time to get that thing hooked and set up right...

All in all, I was very impressed with this extremely large gear...

    Pics to come later...

Wow. That is a _very_ impressive looking amp. So they're monoblocks? And they're powering JM Lab Utopias, right?

No picture I can show you would do them things justice...

They really are a masterpiece... that aluminum faceplate and that center display lit up in blue -- absolutely beautiful!

The amp has like...limitless amounts of power...

    And yep, JM Lab Utopias

I got to play with the Outlaw 990 and the Pass Labs.

The 990 was the preamp to this setup...

And 600 mono blocks were the amps - just insane.

We ran some graphs from 100-20hz, the graph was flat except for 3 nulls at 3 different frequencies, the nulls were about an 8 db drop off - I was very impressed at how flat the graph was...

Some day Iwill own a Pass piece. I have a great deal of respect for Nelson Pass and his designs. Someone with his talent who is a frequent contributor to the DIY forum is way o.k. by me. And he designs some pretty awesome products too. He's more than willing to help DIY'rs clone many of his designs. That is the trait of a true gentleman. No ego and willing to help anyone who asks.

I'd think the Outlaw 990 was a bit over matcheed with the X600. Like putting a Ferarri engine in a Hyundai. The 990 is a good piece but to pair with a Pass X600....strange .

Sid, how's the heat dissipation level on the Pass? Is it: slightly warm, warm, hot, or very hot? just curious. thanks.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I never been around a Nelson Pass design that didn't run hot. He's a big believer in always having the output devices almost fully switched on even at idle.

They burn like 900 watts idling or something like that...

But its like 120 (or so) class A watts...

    So it runs...VERY hot.
