    Question sub for small office

    I'm picking up a Harmon HK3480 and will attach a pair of Rti6's to be used as a small home office bookshelf system (10 x 11). Listening volume will be at moderate or low playing mp3's from an iPod or feed from my PC's soundcard. I rip my CD's between 192 and 320 bit. System will only be used for 2 channel music listening - no home theatre/movie/surround sound setup desired. Type of music played: Diana Krall, Sarah Brightman, Armik, Eagles, etc.

    What would you all recommend in a small sub or will the RTi6's be plenty of bass? Budget is $400 or less. I'm leaning towards Hsu's STF-1 but have not heard it. Is the Polk PSW10 enough? I'm interested in picking up the lows. No rumbling, knock me out my chair bass needed.

    Thx

    Heres what the doctor ordered;

    http://www.av123.com/products_produc...s&product=12.1

    Inexpensive, fast and capable, - this sub will deliver performance thats beyond just the sum of its parts. This would be the ideal go-to woofer in your situation.

    HSU's STF-1 and STF-2 are also fine choices and would match well with the RTi's, the only caveat being their expense over the X-Sub. The STF-2 is larger, and while it will definately output more than both subs, it may be over-kill for your situation.

    If you really wanted to stretch the budget, my favorite is the UFW-10 from rocket/onix (av123). I call it the poor mans REL. If you are lucky, you may be able to catch a B-stock ufw-10 for around $400-425. This sub again, may be a bit over-kill in your price range but represents the ideal solution for someone who values tunefullness and accuracy in that price point - over slam and power.

    Again, I defer to my original suggestion; the X-Sub should fit your bill nicely. As far as Polk, bless them, they make good speakers, but less than thrilling subs. Stay away from em'.

    Default That sub Zero linked to looks pretty good.

    A sub that I ordered off of Fry's outpost.com was an Athena AS-P4000
    10 inch powered subwoofer. You might want to have a look/see at this sub, too.

    Amazon has it for $149.95, w/o shipping. I bought mine from Fry's for the same price, shipped.
    Your local Best Buy may have it in their store for you to listen to. Definitely worth having a listen to. Pretty nice tonal qualities for the price. It can rattle the windows when called upon, but it definitely is not a "boom" box.

    You could look into the 8" Velo line like the DLS-3500R. Has 4 preset eq with remote. Under 400 but not as cheap as others recommend. :)
