Nice!
Sunfire TGP III PrePro, Sunfire Cinema Grand Signature 405wpc 5 ch. Amp,Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Onkyo TA2600 Tape Deck, Pioneer Elite 47-A DVD, Sony 32" XBR TV, Polk RTA-8T Main Speakers, Boston VR-920 Center Channel, Boston PV-600 Subwoofer, Polk DSW 400 Subwoofer, Polk FXi-3 Surround Speakers
Looks like when they "remanufactured" them, 10 years ago, they used non-polk drivers. They look to be in nice shape, so I'd think that one could replace the replacements with real Polk drivers, but then cost might be prohibitive.
Good Luck with the auction, Troy!!

Eh, we will see. I didn't see the remanufactured part, that casts a different light on them.

Still, though, other than the pair that was donated at HQ last year, this is only the second pair I'VE ever seen or heard of. Might still be a nice pair to have in your collection. Once you find out what drivers can be used in place of the originals, without throwing off the specs too much, there should be plenty of spares around for the cause, dontcha think??

Depends largely on what the bid goes to, you know?
IIRC, those are 4" drivers, IF the original ones came with the speaker, yeah, having them rebuilt would be one possibility but other than that getting a Polk replacement would be a real shot in the dark.
I doubt there are any spares floating around Polk but I'll check.
Also, the original sported a piezo on the ass end......so either the 9a differed in that respect as well or these are pretty much frankenpolks

so these were true Polks Model 9A at one time? Troy I hope you do get them..
You beat me to the punch danger, there is a cool factor to them..eh? Hope you score em troy, it'll be cool to cast an eye on them at the meet.

There were Polk 9's no "A's" AFAIK (unless it was a Canadian model, eh?)
The 4" drivers were according to urban (Baltimore) legend Bose 901 knockoffs, but I assume they weren't ultra-low impedance.
Finally, an irrelevant factoid: The student pub at Johns Hopkins U (Matt Polks alma mater, and mine) had a pair of 9's with white cabinets, in the 1970's.
all the best,

I got a couple emails from Polk, there was a 9A, not many though. The tweeter on the rear replaced the piezo...
Keeping an eye on 'em.

Sweet... Wonder if they're close to disneyjoe. Shipping seems kinda steep.

Wouldn't mind having them but not really that interested. Sounds like a lot of money to restore them back into original form if it's even possible to do so... plus the cost of shipping and insurance. Well, I bid twenty bucks on them anyways and see the current high bidder has more than that on them so I've seen all I needed to see, I'm done and on it goes...

yeah. I want to know too. Troy did you get these? Price seemed reasonable.
What's the story?
Didn't get them. Couple reasons, they weren't close to being original and really had not good way to get them there. The shipping was prohibitive as well. The cool factor was sort of there but in the end, it just didnt' seem like a great investment.

after looking at the pics over and over again. although not being very familar with the model 9. it did appear from reading and looking at them.. they were modded quite a bit over the years.
