    Default amp for monitors

Hey guys...i'm tossing the idea around about getting an external amp to put on my M70's but the thought of getting something that'l run my CS2 as well comes to mind. The 70's are rated up to 275 wpc and the CS2 is rated up to 175 wpc. Now i'm wondering if i i get an amp that will power both, which is the best to do....underpower the 70's to better match the CS2 or overpower the CS2 to better match the 70's. Or maybe get a 2 channel for the 70's and a mono for the CS2. I would think that it is important to have the same power across the front to keep a seamless sound but maybe i'm wrong. I should mention that my Denon 3805 will be used to power my surrounds(m40's). Any ideas which way to go and recomendations on good amps to match my gear. I like good sound watching movies but have started listening to alot more 2 channel music since upgrading to my polks.

Personally I prefer the overpower both speakers. (Get an amp rated for (at least) the maximum power your speakers are rated at.)

With that being said - even a 100wpc external amp will provide a decent improvement over a 80-150watt mid-grade reciever. (considering most denon, Onkyo, and Yamaha under $2000 as mid-grade)

Go large on the amp and you will never have to purchase another one. Purchase the amp to power your dream speakers, not the ones you currently have.
