Hello again last time I got pretty much my rear-end handed to me LOL but it's all good cause like I told u I'm new and maybe I was wrong so tell me then what setup should I run then. I do wanna stick with Polk Audio though and an Onkyo receiver preferably THX certified? Also my DVD player is an LG DVF9900.

You could try the Onkyo 7XX and up series with the Polk Rti line, with an SVS sub, with Signal Cable interconnects.

thats a good recommendation, RTi line is a great line, especially if you know your heavier on theater than music. a good reciever will drive them fine. 8 ohms friendly for the entire line.

take $ in you budget for a really good SVS, say the plus or the ultra line. Thats the way to go, especially if you want to shock and awe the family and friends :D

If you were budgeting LSI's all around, cant see why you couldnt go RTi12 mains CSi5 center then the FX surrounds or RTi6 bookshelves for surrounds.

Oh, I forgot to say this in your first thread (and why do we have three now? ): THX is absolutely nothing more than three little letters. If it's on your equipment, cool. If you like the way it looks, great. Don't make it your goal to buy something that is THX certified. It's baloney.

Did you know that THX doesnt use THX certified equipment to test THX certified equipment. If you can believe or understand that..lol

Yep, There was an intervue with one of the THX techs doing his work. I cant remember where I saw it, but in the back ground as part of the system being used, there sat a pair of JBL's. Now I dont know much about JBL, but I dont think anything by JBL is THX certified. But I did read a confirming article on the trueth about THX certified. Stateing that most of the equipment used to test was not THX certified. Now I know that speakers arent THX certified to my knowlege, but it goes to show you what type of system they test with.

The one thing about THX certified products is that it has been tested for accuracy on amplification, durability and frequency responce. But it is by far a standard of excellence.

Your knowledge is wrong. Speakers can be THX certified. Even Polk is producing some.

Believe me when I say I am not a big advocate of THX certification, but to say it is meaningless is a bit of an exaggeration. THX does not mean excellence but it does mean that the system must perform to a given minimum set of conditions. THX certification works as the lazy man's way of ensuring that his system will perform to a certain minimum specs.

This does not mean that a THX certified system is better than a non-certified one. All this means is that at least you know the THX system is qualified to perform to a certain standard.

I'll grant you that much. However, for anyone who gives a hooey about audio, that 'certain minimun of specs' is not near high-enough. It only serves inspire confidence in those consumers who don't give a hooey about audio, but think they do.

In other words, if you know/care anything at all about audio, then the level of performance the THX stamp ensures is way below your expectations. And so, it just becomes a marketing gimmick.
