    Default Cinco de Mayo

    Cinco de Mayo is today.

The 5th of May is not Mexican Independence Day, but it should be! And Cinco de Mayo is not an American holiday, but it should be. Mexico declared its independence from mother Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. And it took 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers were told and forced to leave Mexico.

So, why Cinco de Mayo? And why should Americans savor this day as well? Because 4,000 Mexican soldiers smashed the French and traitor Mexican army of 8,000 at Puebla, Mexico, 100 miles east of Mexico City on the morning of May 5, 1862.

Should the 4th of July be a Mexican holiday?
All the Illegal imigrants, who went on strike on May Day, and I guess you know about May day, take off on Cinco de Mayo too?

As much as I dislike the French, and you know who you are, Cinco de Mayo
is Not a Holiday in the USA unless we become The US of Mexico.

Jeez, I thought this was The United States of America.

    Wow...how ignorant...

First, May 5 isn't the Mexican Independance day (that would be Sep 16), so your comparison to July 4 is irrelevant

Illegal imigrants weren't the people going on strike on Monday (though it's true a percentage of those on strike may have been illegal imigrants). But to just group everyone who went on strike in the same 'illegal imigrants' group is ignorant...

I won't even address the statement about it being a U.S. holiday...

Damnit. Can't you morons drop the political **** for a while. Al started this thread and it has nothing to do with politics.

    Yes, you are Ignorant.

I happen to work with Imigrants Everyday, mostly who I'm sure are Illegal and a whole lot of them took the day off on May 1st. You opinion is your opinion and nothing else. It really doesn't amount to a hill of beans. My comparison to July 4th was not irrelevant but I guess you just have to try to Figure thought more, DOH!

You are the one acting like a moron by name calling.
