Nice one Mark! My pic is of Blue Lake, in the Indian Peaks Wilderness section of Roosevelt National Forest. The trailhead to Blue Lake is in the Brainard Lake recreation area, just north of Ward, CO. Lake Isabelle can also be accessed from there, and it's just as beautiful. I tend to spend more time in the national forest while I'm there because I can take my dogs with me when I hike.

What lake is that one in your photo from RMNP? I do a lot of hiking there too, but not sure if I've seen that one.

I'll try to post some more up later today, of Lake Isabelle and Mill's lake in RMNP.

Great picture Mark. Is that Emerald lake and the Tyndal glacier with Hallett peak on the left? I used to live in Ft. Collins and visited the park often. What kind of camera do you use? It takes great pictures, with the help of you I am sure.

I know the Mills Lake area very well. Looking forward to seeing your pics. And I'll have to try out the Indian Peaks Wilderness area. We've never hiked there before. The picture I posted is of Emerald Lake, just a short easy hike up from the Bear Lake Trailhead in RMNP. Yes, that's Emerald Lake. So much beauty in that park! Easy to take good pictures when the scenery is like that. I now use a Sony Alpha 380 with a circular polorazing filter on it. Although that Emerald Lake picture was from a couple of years ago and was probably taken with a Sony point and shoot digital camera. I don't have it with me here at the office so I'm not sure of the model number. But again, good pictures are easy when shooting in the mountains of Colorado!

Ah, so Emerald is close to Bierstadt then, right? I saw two black bears on the switchbacks up to Bierstadt last year. Try out Indian Peaks for sure, if you like the RMNP day hikes, you'll love Isabelle and Blue too.

Excellent! Here are three taken on the Longs Peak Trail. The first one shows the view across the boulder field on the approach to the keyhole. The other two show the view on the other side of the keyhole. My 18 year old niece took these three years ago on her first trip to Colorado with us. Click image for larger version

Bears? Don't tell my wife. I always tell her that she doesn't have to worry about bears. Then she asks why they call it Bear Lake...I don't have a good answer for that. lol

Thanks for the info. We will definitely have to try those out on next years trip out there. We just got back Saturday from a week in the Summit County area and the aspens were spectacular! Every day bright sunshine and perfect all around weather for hiking and jeeping.

Awesome. I will do Long's Peak some day. You're captured a helluva view up there!

Here's the view of Longs through the picture window in the family cabin in Estes Park. Oh, how I wish I was there right now, enjoying a 90 Schilling! :

Yeah, the Aspens were starting to really look fabulous when we left Estes on 9/25. I didn't get any good pics of them though. :( The weather was awesome then too! I haven't done much Jeeping in that area yet--I typically do that in the San Juans.

EDIT: She still doesn't have to worry about bears. They're well-fed in the more travelled sections of RMNP!

Family cabin in Estes? Hmmm...my wife and I always said we need to find some new best friends that have a house or cabin in Colorado! lol We've never jeeped around Estes, but last week did a little in Summit County for the first time. Have done it many times between Ouray and Telluride.

Nice! You're supposed to take Black Bear pass from Ouray to Telluride though, then Imogene back! ;) I have some great shots from that area too, including Black Bear. You can't (not supposed to) take a rental down Black Bear from what I hear though. I'm from MO, so I'm close enough (barely) to drive my own vehicle out.

That is some of the most beautiful country in the US, IMO...

You're right about Black Bear pass and the rental. Every time we have jeeped there they told us we were prohibited from taking Black Bear Pass. And you are SO right about it being beautiful country. I've been going there for about 17 years now and am still amazed at what I see. Around every turn it is spectacular! Just when you think it can't get any better you visit another area and see more incredible beauty. We're going to retire out there from Pennsylvania some day.

Well, we'll just have to meet up out there some day and I'll let you drive down BB. ;) I do understand why the rental places don't let folks drive it after driving it a few times myself. I once had to get out and talk a guy through the "steps" section (some call this "pucker point"). He basically got so scared and worked up that he couldn't take his foot off the brake. LOL A stock Jeep will easily do BB, it's just steep and scary for some folks.

I've been going to CO for trail riding and hiking since I was a child, and it's been a life goal for me to live in CO also. Maybe someday....

It's been great sharing pics with 'ya so far. I'll try to dig up some more good 'uns after work.
