That'd be a fun repel... I did a 500ft free repel in the UP. That was intense climbing over this 5 foot tall fence, to get on the ropes... talk about hardcore! :D

The climb up the ladder is pretty exhausting but it gets easier with each climb. I've climbed four times so far. It takes about 7 minutes to make it all the way to the top.

Did a little wheelin' yesterday on a 4x4 trail to Holy Cross City, it's an abandoned mining town. Started out nice enough...

The first part of the trail went well, no issues at all on the way up to where the trail exit is.

We got past to the sign that warns that the trail changes from Moderate to Difficult.

I was the first to go up the rock obstacle right after the sign...

...and promptly snaped the axle side of the trackbar that holds the bushing.

Here's a little video for ya...
    POP! CLANK!

The folks I was with went on ahead and borrowed some jumper cables from another group that was ahead of us so I could weld the trackbar back together.

After they got back I welded up the trackbar and had to move the heep a bit to get the trackbar frame end to line up, and it was at that time that my drivers side front shock decided it was time to break as well.

We all made it off the trail without any further problems and after numerous stops on the way home to check the trail reapir we got back to town and home safely.

Even with the carnage I still had a great time with great people.

i like the bats, but re-filling the h-bird feeder daily is getting to be a chore. plus i think they may possibly carry diseases that may hurt my little h-bird buddies. what the bats do is hover for like 2 seconds above the feeding hole. just long enough to get a good slurp. they cannot hold their position like an h-bird can do. but watching 3-4 of them at a time contantly barrage the feeder is quite cool.

maybe i'll hang some cloves of garlic next to the feeder and make some wooden darts out of toothpics to shoot 'em through the heart and get it done right! ...kidding.

Same thing here, I tried to make a movie, but too dark. Last year we had a "swarm" of like 30 bats. They emptied both feeders in about 15 minutes.

YEAH, i got my ex a canon a630 last x-mas. good pics for only $250. last night i went to refill the feeder since they emptied it and were STILL trying to lick for all their worth and brought into the house and quickly noticed those batstards pissed all over the feeder. don't know if they mark territory with scent or are just too lazy to pee somewhere else. but i can assure you, bat piss smells worse than cat piss. they have now effectively been cut off. ungrateful batstards.

the first two pics were taken behind a dirty sliding glass door. it was fun to combat the flash's reflection. the 3rd pic was sitting outside with them flying around my sweet head. they have no fear of humans. my kids thought it was cool as could be. i also took a mini-vid, but haven't seen the outcome yet. but it was dark and only silhouettes could be seen, so not worth posting it.

this is a hometown site where i found out a bit of info on these buggers... http://fireflyforest.net/firefly/200...d-feeder-bats/

Try playing catch with a big ball of tinfoil when they're around and see how they react ;)

Most digital cameras embed data called EXIF (Exchangeable Image File) into jpeg files. You can view it by right clicking it and choosing the summary tab (possibly have to expand it with the Advanced>> button.) It's handy to look at photos and understand how they were shot so you can get similar results or learn from it.

    Michael,

That would be very handy indeed to be able to do that. However when I click on the pictures above in this thread, I just get the option to save them. Is there a trick to doing this? I am using IE 7.0.573.

Thanks and sorry about the hijack.

save the pic first, and then right click it and go to properties --> summary --> advanced.
