Default Need some advice on projectors

MY budget is around the $500 mark.

I am considering 2 different products right now.

I can get a new LCD Sanyo z1 for 500 shipped. This projector scales exactly 1/2 HD res so HD looks like HD on it. My friend has this one properly setup and I have to say I am very impressed with it. However the bulb life last only 800-1500 hours from what I have read on projectorcentral.com instead of the quoted 2000 hours.

Or I can get a used lower resolution Infocus DLP 4805 for about $500-$600 used. But it has a longer bulb life. I know this projector would have better blacks but the resolution is lower.
The main purpose of the projector I want is to play DVDs, maybe HD down the road, and playing pc games on it.

Which one would be a better choice? Also if you have any other projectors that you know are in this price range that perform as well please tell me.

    Thanks
    My System

At that price range, I can't really help much. I know the 4805 is an excellent projector, even though it only displays 480p. The next step up would be the sp5000, which I would highly recommend.

Also, what are you going to use for a screen? That will make about as much difference as the projector itself.

Since you are reasonbly close to me, I can help you if you ever need it.

My friend built an 87" screen from material off of ebay. The gain is like 1. something. It looks very good to me from what I have seen using his Z1. Thats cool there is someone polk fans in Memphis :D
