Losing Sub signal

Can someone point me to some possible causes for my problem. I currently have a sub hooked to the preout sub jack. The only way I can get a signal to play for my sub is to use the YPAO (yamaha) autosetup feature. It identifies the sub, sets my lsi9s to large, sub to swfr and xover at 40hz. I usually change the sub to both (to play 2channel). It works great. Once I shut the system down and fire it up later, the receiver no longer sends sound through the sub. The settings remain the same, however, when I have the system test tone, he plays nothing for sub or lfe volume. I thought it was only happening when I shut the system down, but today i noticed it stopped sometime while playing after I went through the auto setup.

Could there be something shorting within the box? Where should I start looking, now that the setting are proven to be okay (I think)? Attached are my Y cable connections.

If I run the sub through regular line, will it not produce dolby lfe frequencies.
AV is only 7 mnths old and I just recently start running sub through it.

is your subwoofer always set to "ON" or is it set to "auto"? if it's set to auto.. change it to "ON" and see if that helps. Some subwoofers need a pretty loud volume to wake it up.. my SVS was like that...

Other than that.. i can't figure out why your Yamaha would lose it's settings after turning it off.

why don't you manually override your auto set up and change the fronts to small. and that will send more bass to your subwoofer.

Thx Danger....I kept the fronts set to large because i thought they sound more full.... I will try with them set to small today to see what happens

seems pretty straight forward.....Would i lose low lfe effects if i use regular line hookup for the sub vs using the pre subwoofer jack?

looks like you do have everything set up correctly from what i can see.

are you using a splitter on your sub end? You Yamaha has one LFE out put, but i see two inputs on your subwoofer. A Y splitter is fine.. that will not cause any problems.

I don't quite understand what you're asking about the regular line hook up VS the pre out subwoofer jack?

The easiest way to hook up a sub from your receiver is the way you have it hooked up.

Just curious.. which model Klipsch sub are you using? Are there more than those to line inputs on the sub?

It's probably better to use the sub out instead of hooking it up inline with your fronts using the hi level inputs. (I think that's what you're asking) It should be better that way because why have the seperate sub channel (the .1 in 5.1) mix with the fronts and then have to seperate it anyways? It just seems like a cleaner way to go if you use the lfe sub out as well as adding a lot of extra speaker wire to the system.

Unfortunatly, I can't seem to think of a solution to your problem. All I can reccommend is to try and set things up manually, skipping the whole ypao setup process. If you can get it running that way and it cuts out again then it should help narrow the problem down some.

take the speaker wires out from the back of the sub. use the rca's with the receiver set to all speakers "small" and sub set to "on".
