X-3 Discussion.

OK so I just got back from the midnight showing of X-3, and it was my intention to come home and give a full review on it. However I have discovered that I can't, because I am just so undecided on it. Looking back at it I felt the movie was pretty well done and I never really found myself bored with it, however the movie ended with the audience wanting so much more, which really pisses me off because this was supposed to be the END.

OK I'm obviously not going to come to a decisive conclusion right now. So maybe it's best I sleep on it.

Anyone else have any opinions????

They could easily do it if they so desire. I really hope they do because the ending left me with a slight case of blue balls.:D

BTW to anyone planning on seeing the movie......DON'T LEAVE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE CREDITS! STAY!

I just got back from this one, by far the best of the three I see where you could think that there might be a forth but I really don't think that there will be I don't se how they could.

I stayed like you said cmy330go through the frist 8 or 9 credits to pop up but nothing happened, where you talking about the part with magneto and the chess board, if not PLEASE pm me and tell me what I missed

I saw it and I thought it was pretty good. It was my understanding that it was the last one but with Jean and Scott now gone, it doesn't sound like the next one would be as entertaining.

But definately stay till after the credits. Not only does the last scene in the movie with magneto give away some possibilities of a 4th movie, but I'd say the scene after the credits gives even more reason.

I thought it was pretty cool, BUT it didn't seem to have the punch of the previous installments. The bowling alley sound effect during a certain scene was effin' stupid, my wife and I both looked at each other when that happened with that WTF look on our faces.

Something was different about this one that made it not as good.

There have been some discussions online that Scott may have been protected by one of Jean's "Telekinetic Fields" and also that since Jean is the "PHOINEX" it is very unlikely that she couldn't rise again.

Now in regards the "cure", my personal opinion is that it is temporary. As you no doubt recall when the mutants were in close proximity to "Leech" they had no powers. However as soon as they left him power was returned. Therefore I would guess that the shots could eventually wear off. Hence the reason Magneto was able to wiggle the chess piece at the end. Just a thought.

You probably already know this, but the cause for the different feel to this movie is the fact that Brett Ratner directed this movie instead of Bryan Singer who did the other two. Just FYI.

Something was different about this one that made it not as good.

I heared that this one was done under a different diredtor than the director of X2 and X1. The original director went to direct the new Superman movie. So what is the deal, was it not enough money? I love a "GOOD" sequil but it has to have the same flavor. Take Terminator 3 for example.... it was just weired, maby it was all the running and not very much ass kicken. Who knows, I am easily amuzed.

I wouldn't sweat it. I felt that the differences were pretty minor. In fact had I not known about the different director, I'm not sure I would have even noticed.

I would imagine the folks that suspect Jean and Scott are "gone" are not comic book nerds. I would expect a Wolverine subplot movie, ala the Frank Miller series, before another X-Men movie.

YES! Finally someone else who thought the same thing as I did. cmy330go everyone I went with was upset when they saw Magneto move the piece, they thought the cure didn't work but I think it was only temporary as well. Beast goes near Leech and has no power, but right when he pulls away it comes back. They harness this ability to create the "cure", but just like with Leech it is only temporary. No one I saw the movie with could fathom this for some reason.

Well I think I agree with the above reviews. The ending was fairly anit-climactic. There was a pretty good sense of "Huh? Thats it?"

I also didnt like that everybody freakin' dies in it especially 3 of the main characters and I was disappointed to see Mystique turned human.

The whole thing with Jean I thought was a little dumb. Kinda like Pet Cemetary. Somebody dies and when they come back theyre an evil monster. I didnt think that worked with the movie that well.

Other than that I dont have too many complaints. It is still a very good movie with good FX and good action so I do recommend it. Its as least as good as the previous 2 but not better.

Id give it a 7 out of 10.

I thought the movie was pretty good. It kind of jumped around the comic story line but if anyone read the comics they would know what is in store and probably understand the Phoenix better. I liked it as much as Xmen 2. It did leave you wanting more but it didn't leave me hanging, thinking "that's it".

I thought it was pretty good. I used to read the comics as a kid so I can fully appreciate the whole Dark Phoenix storyline. My favorite part was the 'House Scene'. I thought that was pretty well done.

Alright I've got two questions,

1. Why wasn't Night Crawler in the thrid movie?

2. And this one is for the comic book folks, if there is a forth movie is there any chance that Apocalypse might enter the picture, when I was a kid I thought he was the end all be all of bad guys.

I saw the movie earlier today and thought it was good-not many movies can make a good trilogy but alas, we did not stay for the final after the credits scene. can anybody PM me what happens?

Since some didn't get to see the final scene after the credits I thought I would just describe it.

You may recall the discussion Professor Xavier was having with his class about ethics, and then also the video clip he showed them of the doctor describing the condition of a coma patient. He then suggested that there may be some ethical issues if you were to transfer the consciousness of another individual into the coma patient.

Well the final scene shows that doctor coming into the patient's room and doing a routine check. Then the patient's head turns toward the doctor, and you hear Professor. Xavier's voice say "Hello Moira". She then gasps and says. "Charles?"

So there you have it. In one way or another the Professor's "consciousness" was transferred. There is some debate as to whether it was done by himself or Jean. But either way he's not gone.

I saw the movie yesterday and liked it a lot. I'd heard it wasn't nearly as good as the first two, and I think the lowered expectations went a long way towards me enjoying the movie. Probably around 7 of 10 for me.

It's rumored that Halle Berry threatened not to do the third installment unless given a bigger role, which is why she was more of a prominent character in this movie. I didn't like this as I feel Halle Berry's acting is best in bits and pieces; in my mind, Swordfish was a really good role for her "skills" : )

Did Rogue trade in her mutant abilities for the ability to have sex?
Did Magneto's powers remain due to the temporary nature of the "cure" or the strength of his abilities?
Will Rogue and Mystique's powers begin to return like Magneto's?

My guess, yes to all their powers returning. Phoenix rises. Xavier returns with hair and legs. Scott stays dead, like he should.

If I recall, he got his powers from some mystical crystal stolen from an alien race (description from X-Men trading cards). If thats so, then Leech would not have affected him one bit and he would have smashed through the wall. The "Cell" they had him contained in was rediculous.

Angel was useless. A few flying scenes and that was that.

Again, Cyclops was denied any scenes to kickass. He did more in X-2.

The CGI for Collossus was better in X-2. He didn't look right in X-3.

Overall, I was disappointed with X-3. I find it hard to like.

I havent seen X3 yet but you are right about Juggernaut. He is not a mutant at all, his powers are "magical", as he once described them in the comics. He touched the Cytorak gem and was tranformed. He then threw the gem into space.
His real name is Cain Marko. Cain's father married Xaviers mother and made Cain and Xavier step brothers. There was a fire and Cains father dies while trying to save Xavier's life. However Cain was bitter at his father for not trying to save him. Thus creating the fued between Xavier and Cain.
I was worried that if they introduced Juggernaut to the movie series that they would screw it up. He is very powerful, only mind attaks will work if they get his helmet off.

They had him locked down in a cell with hands, feet and body strapped down with metal bindings. According to the paperwork that Mystique read (as they were releasing other captured mutants), it said he had to be kept locked down and stationary. If he got lose and got running, nothing could stop him.

I was like, WTF is this running and keeping him still bull***t! I also wondered how they caught him in the first place since he is practically invulnerable except to the mind attacks with helmet removed. BTW, his helmet was on while he was strapped down, so that kills the idea of using a mind attack to subdue him.

I'm a huge fan of X-men. This one missed bigtime for me.

I saw once that they had Juggernaut in captivity. He was chained to something but somehow they kept him sedated. The sedation is what kept him under control. His strength is off the charts so nothing can restrain him.
He is stronger than the hulk without a temper. The Hulk gets stronger as he gets madder. He has also never been able to be stopped from advancing, only slowed down. In one comic he was stopped by the Hulk. Hulk received assistance from Apocolpyse. Onslaught kicked his ass also.Magneto cant stop Juggs.

I know I'm a little late in this discussion, but does the storyline of the movie have anything to do with the Mutant Massacre comics in the '80's? Seems to be a lot of dying...

Funny thing is, while he was restrained in the movie, Magneto ripped the metal bindings away to release him like it was nothing. Really diminishes his character alot if you know what his characters abilities are really supposed to be.

I'm usually not too critical of movies, but i dig X-men and hoped it would be more true to the comics and animated series. It usually would take several X-men to battle him alone.
