PSW650, connecting both speaker level and LFE

Can you connect the PSW650 to both the speaker level inputs AND the LFE input from the preamp processors LFE output? I’m looking at the owner’s manual for the PSW650 and I think that it is one of the suggestions if I understand it correctly. Here is why I want to do this. My main speakers are the RTi150’s, which are awesome, but the PSW650 will go a little lower. I have taken the advice from Polk and configured the front speakers on my pre/pro to large. I have connected the sub to the speaker level inputs from the main amp. I have adjusted the low pass filter to 40Hz and volume of the sub to blend with the mains for 2-channel audio and it sounds great. Currently I have the sub on the pre/pro (Outlaw Audio 990) set to none and for Dolby Digital and DTS it still sounds great. But the amplifier and front speakers have to deal with all that bass from the small center, surrounds and LFE channel. My pre/pro has a setting for the sub of LFE Only which would send the small speaker bass and LFE channel out the sub output. If I could direct the LFE and small speaker bass to the sub so the front speakers didn’t have to deal with it I could get the best of both worlds.

I am not sure how the sub will react to that type of connection but recommend against it. At the very least I would ask Polk about it. Another suggestion is to set all speakers to small and the crossover at the -3dB point of your smallest speaker.

In my setup I have all speakers as small and the crossover set to 50Hz. The RTi-10 has a -3dB of 35Hz but my surrounds have a -3dB of 50Hz so it's a compromise but it sounds good to me. My receiver has limited crossover settings but I would guess your Outlaw is much more flexible.

Why would you want both. I'd be affraid of to many xovers going there. Pick one.
FWIW. I have my HK xover at 80hz hooked up to my rti8 and my sub is an energy s10.2.

Yes, you can. I just purchased a used 650 from a friend and discovered the same thing you did on Page 8 of the manual.

I recommend that you don't. I tried the same thing with the sub cabinets from my RT3000's which do have separate inputs for line and LFE and it sounded distorted and boomy. If you must run both through the same sub, then I recommend you switch back and forth; Line level for music and LFE for movies.

you could run the sud to your b speaker outputs ans switch it on and off, and the same with the lfe and try both at the same time to see what happens. ***not resopnsible for damages try at own risk***
