I'm pretty new to the A/V scene and was wondering if I could get some answers to a couple of questions. I originally purchased an Onkyo 760 6.1 HTIB and am now in the process of upgrading. One of the upgrades i have in mind is to replace my Front L/R onkyo speakers with Polk RTI 10's. My question is will the onkyo receiver be able to properly drive the RTI 10's? Or do I risk damaging them if I run them off the HTIB receiver? Should I purchase a better receiver? Or can I make do? Thanks for all your input.

well, more power and a better receiver or seperates will elevate your system to the next level.. I say.. stick with what you got and enjoy it for now. at a later date.. upgrate the receiver and go from there.

Unless you listen to your music at insane levels.. it shouldn't damage the RTi10's

    enjoy and happy listening.

Thanks danger boy. I've heard from numerous sources that low end receivers can damage speakers over time and just wanted to avoid that. I plan on using the RTI-10's for 80% Home Theater and 20% music.

The 760 is a great all around package that works well together. I don't think the Rti10 is a good match for the 5xx series oinker.

I have the Onkyo 601 (85wx6) 6.1 channel receiver on my RTi10s, and it does fine eventhough I can do better. I want to upgrade one day, but it gives decent sound for us. I can hear a slight difference in my buddy's system, and his Onkyo is (100wx7) with the same RTi10 speakers. You can't miss what you can't measure I guess. You won't damage them unless you make it clip like I did. If it distorts, cut it down. Hope I helped.

LOL...I learned a lesson from that, a very painful lesson. I went a few long days without my RTi10s, until I got my replacement tweets in, and I know better now not to put myself through that again.
