Partner & Small Business Owner in the Manufacturing arena. We make high end industrial lifts with capacities of 500 - 500,000 pounds or more. We have a standard line of products, but our bread and butter is really our custom lifts. We do things that others won't. Here's a few pictures of just a small sample of the custom stuff we have done:

Standard manual foot pump operated lift table with special tooling requested by our customer:

Floor mounted hydraulic powered lift table with up and down foot controls. I believe our customers used this as a welding platform, hence the non-painted deck:

    Custom Hydraulic Powered Tipster/Box Dumper:

This one is a more complex scissors lift. It's powered to move up and down using the hand controls. It also has a spooling device on the top of the deck:

Floor mountable tipper with a ball transfer top. Integrated into an assembly line most likely:

These are the last manual scissor lifts we made for boeing. They were used to put radar equipment into one of their fighter planes. I wasn't afforded details on that, obviously:

So that's pretty much what I oversee all day. It's exciting because we're always coming up with solutions to problems that other companies like us have. We have a unique niche since we are not an 'off the shelf' type company that sells cheap crap that needs to be replaced in a few years. It's built tough and it lasts a long time.

We also make material handling equipment for moving machinery, houses, and various other buildings. That's a great product as well, but a little boring to talk about.

    Good thread.

I was educated as a chemical engineer, University of Pittsburgh (1976). I've worked at Westinghouse since 1977. Mostly in nuclear power generation. The last 10 years or so I've been in project management. My job is all about people and money. Not as much fun as making neutrons fly:D

I'm a "diagnostic engineer" for a company called CSPI. We make computer boards for embedded systems.... lots of computing power in VERY small spaces (usually military).

I design and write the tests for said boards.
