    Default Wanted - Cabinet Builder

I've got a pair of shipping damaged KEF Q55's. They are a floorstander with a 6.5" Uni-Q driver, and a 6.5" woof. Not looking for world class fit and finish, but a simple cab built close to the original size, that's living room presentable.

Pay cash, or audio trades for help.

I have the same thought, mostly in July and August.

    That's the best time. :)

I wish I had more time so I could do it. What kind of material where you thinking of using? Veneer?

Russ, what kind of timeframe are you looking at? Would you be able to provide any measurements, specs, etc?

Fairly soon, I either am going to keep them at a discounted rate, or just send them back if it's not feasible.

Russ - look in the phonebook for woodworking supply stores in your area, such as a Rockler Hardware, Woodcraft, Woodworkers Supply, etc. They should have a bulletin board or know of some semi-prof. woodworkers who could whip you together some new cabs quickly and at pretty reasonable cost. Depending on how bad the damage is, a lot of the repair could be done using Polyurethane expanding glue and some new veneer/covering. It would have to be pretty bad damage before you would need to throw away the old cabinets. Doug.

I'm too far away to be feasible. But Doug has a good idea...

I'm reasonably close and willing to help. I'm not very fast though. I'm really not very good either.. just persistent enough to eventually get it right. Which is the main reason I'm not very fast. I have turned out a few cabinets I'm not embarassed to have in the living room.

I agree though that, depending on the damage, it might be feasible to repair the cabinets rather than starting from scratch. A local cabinet shop might be able to do that as well.

Russ no longer has these speakers. I picked them up to test the Kef sound.
They are currently stored in my closet. Little too bright for my tastes. I am as of right now unsure if I'll be putting any more effert into these.
    Thank you for your responses.
